Re: WATM-Where do you hear "classic" DMB?
There are signature "Dave" guitar parts all over this album.
WATM - The chorus is about as DMB a progression as you can get.
MME - This is the... third version of this sound so far, fourth if you count Squirm?
LFAV - The most non-DMB song to me yet somehow still a DMB song. The ditch is still getting dug. Complaints about production are understandable.
OATB - Sounds like a lost hidden track from UTTAD.
ICH - It has that classic, skip-hop, walking guitar sound that's core to many classics.
STTMB - Classic tiny solo song. I really hated this when he started playing it since it is what it is, but it is also very good and brief.
AE - This one is pretty unique but carries on the tradition of a "festive" song being on the album.
AYWWT - Yet another classic-style riff, though not as good as Jimi. I need to listen to this one more.
TOT - Doesn't sound like the old days, but it is the big old love bomb song for the album and nails that, especially vocally.
Break Free - Literally is classic DMB.
Monsters - Dave chords meet Dad chords, this song may be the best example of merging classic DMB with the band we have today.
SFTW - Another classic Dave solo song and arguably the best song on the album.
I will concede that the rest of the band could be more present at times. My view is very Dave-centric since he is at least 90% of what makes this band interesting.
