Re: “A Concert for Island Relief”

I was declined on two accounts. This is a more difficult ticket than I expected.

Making a blanket statement like that because of what? A few bad eggs on Facebook?

Most of them are actually pretty cool. You should go to a show sometime. Then you get to see a band that still challenges themselves on stage every night.

DMB fans, you might get 5% that smoke a little pot during the show. The one Phish show I went to, it felt like 95% of the crowd was high on something strong.... it was just weird

They were nice because they couldn't feel anything

They just do way more cool shit for their fans than DMB (or most anyone else really). I mean...

    - Halloween costume sets
    - Multiple festivals
    - Midnight to sunrise set at millennium New Years show
    - Baker’s Dozen (13 shows, 0 repeats)
    - Covering DSOTM after Halloween since fans were hoping for it that year (and doing something similar with Zeppelin the night before in 2010)

Other than Central Park, name anything DMB has done that even comes close.

I got second row of second mezzanine. I haven’t been to RC in a while, but I think most of the seats are pretty good. No matter where they are.

I've got an extra single ticket - ORCH7 Row B. Let me know if anyone is interested, selling for face obviously.

Edited to add this is in the $150 level.

After fees the price per pair was $40 higher for the $350 seats via warehouse than via Trey ticketing. Seems egregious.

None of that has anything to do with his comment. He doesn't like the songs. It doesn't matter how they present them or what they do for fans if he doesn't like the songs.

Do I wish DMB did stuff like that? Of course. Does any of it make me like Phish's songs? No. I've tried, as I want to, but I just can't get into it.

Your post has nothing to do with what I said, I wasn't doubting what Phish does for their fans. Also, on that note I've been perfectly fine with DMB's career and things like

    - encouraging free trade of their tapes to help them get on the map in the early 90's

    - the amount of touring they have done just about every year, which I would take over a one off bakers dozen with several years of not touring

    - more live releases than I can keep track of, DMBLive, Live Trax etc.

    - charity efforts, including the recent one in Charlottesville

    - Dave going to a very sick child's home after a DMB show and playing solo for as long as the child wanted because the kid was too ill to meet Dave backstage as planned

Aside from the annual full tour / bakers dozen comment these are just a few thoughts off the top of my head that are their own individual comment, not comparing to Phish, just saying there is plenty I have liked as a fan. Trey seems like a great person and does a lot for his fans, the music is just not my thing and that should be fine.

People hate it when DMB plays too many covers. Solution? Cover an entire album.

A bakers dozen and covering another band's entire album are two things that wouldn't do much for me as a fan. I mean yeah I guess a bakers dozen is a cool concept, but I would never go to more than about three nights of shows for any band. One off covers are fine but covering another band's album would just suck IMO.

I think it was just given as an example of the ambitions things that Phish pulls off. I agree that it wouldn't go over well for DMB's fans.

Only way an extended run like that would work for DMB is at a small venue. Also with no repeats, DMB could probably pull off 7 shows but it would require the band to go back and re-learn their whole catalogue at once, which Dave/the band have proven that they're unwilling to do.

Of course Phish's music isn't for everyone, but you can't argue that they aren't afraid to try new things and think outside the box with their touring model, setlists, etc. and DMB does not. Period.
