I'm going to order the vinyl simply because I was there, and at $34 it's not a huge loss if it doesn't end up being a sonic home run. Obviously it's a digital source no matter what but hopefully they'll at least do a more dynamic master for the vinyl version. I was disappointed it wasn't going to be a big box set of both shows, but at the same time I'd be pissed if I paid like $200 for something like that and it sounded the same as the CD bootlegs.

I guess they're going to release both full shows as part of their normal bootleg series in November, which begs the question as to why anyone would want to order the 'Let's Play Two' CD set since it's just a compilation. I asked this in the PJ thread but, does anyone know if the PJ bootleg releases are mixed a la Live Trax, or are they straight soundboard pulls like DMB Live series?

Hmm! Intriguing. First one since Tidal that I'm curious about.

The National looked nice, but I already had that in boring ol' black wax.

Hopefully dumb question: Why is it called Let's Play Two? Didn't they just do one show at Wrigley? Or is that the joke and I'm just not getting it?

"let's play two" is a quote from cub legend ernie banks.

"Legend has it that it was an extremely hot day in July, about 105, and the Cubs were in last place. Ernie entered the clubhouse to a downtrodden cast of players. He looked around and said, “It’s a beautiful day – Let’s play two.”"

2013 was just one show but last year they did 2 nights. Also 'Let's Play Two' is Cubs legend Ernie Banks famous catch phrase - 'Beautiful day for a ball game, let's play 2!'

Alex is right — I was thinking about 2013 when they played that show at, like, 2 in the morning, not last year. My B!

Anyone Pre-Order the new David Gilmour Live at Pompeii ?

Saw him two times (London, Toronto) during this tour.

Should be better than Gdansk IMO. Def must have.

Hope it holds it's value like the Gdansk LPs do as well.

I hear you on Tidal - that was a must have and sounds wonderful! If the rumors are true that this contains the original samples for Machine Gun Funk and the others; this is definitely intriguing - though still some questions as to whether it will have the "true"/"uncensored" version with the words "pregnant" and "blue suit". This album and its various forms are a cluster!

gdansk has 'echoes', and for that alone pompeii will not surpass gdansk in my mind. take away the common songs between the two (which is a lot of the floyd stuff), and gdansk is much more interesting to me. this last tour was moderately disappointing in that he didn't seem to care to play some deeper cuts like he did in 06, like 'wot's uh the deal' and 'wearing the inside out'. the tour set was basically the floyd 94 tour setlist plus rattle that lock tunes.

    gdansk has
    on an island album
    echoes
    wot's uh the deal
    astronomy domine
    great day for freedom
    on the turning away
    echoes acoustic jam
    barn jams

    pompeii has
    rattle that lock songs
what do you want from me
    great gig
    money
    one of these days
    coming back to life
    sorrow
    run like hell

gdansk also had rick wright. very glad i got to see both tours he's done, especially since rick died not long after the 2006 tour, and the shows were incredible don't get me wrong, but 2016 was a minor letdown.

they are being frustratingly noncommittal on the simple yes or no questions of whether it has the samples and uncensored lyrics or not.

My guess is it definitely has the samples. In their release video, you can hear the original sample at the 50 second mark in Machine Gun Funk.

I think it will have the "edited" lyrics (note that doesn't mean it isn't explicit) it's just the few words being different. I can't remember if those were even on the original vinyl release or not

my 'guess' is it may have some/most samples but not others, which is why they're not simply saying yes or no. i don't really care either way as it's not an album i am intimately familiar with, but the lack of forthright information on such a simple set of questions is strange, especially since they've generally been straight up with their information before.

From the video, someone took a screen shot and you can make out the credits for the samples of the major songs that had them removed

    http://i.imgur.com/GhytVG7.jpg

My guess is their elusiveness has to be either due to the lyric changes of blue suit/pregnant or because they've agreed not to explicitly advertise so as not to take revenues away from the recent reissue that has neither the samples nor the lyrics. My guess is the former

the lyric changes were presented in a separate question, though, and could be addressed with a yes or no just as easily as the samples. something else is going on there, but i do trust that whatever we do get will be the 'definitive' version of the record as they have said it will be. we'll find out soon enough!

When I first did mine I just did it a bit at a time and it wasn't bad. If I had a free hour or so I'd spin some records, grab a stack, sit down at the computer and do 30-40 entries. Once you get your backlog entered, then it's easy to keep up as long as you enter new stuff as you get it.

This was several years back - it's even easier now that the Discogs app has a barcode scanner. Sit down with that and you can be done in no time.

What Alex said, plus I did mine during football season. I would sit down and knock out a stack or two during a game. Most of it's easy except band like Zepplin and the Beatle where there are so many different pressings.

Vinyl Me, Please peeps - if I sign up for a month to get the Biggie release, can I still purchase Tidal? Or is that no longer available?

It's currently out of stock, but it will occasionally pop back up. It is a "member exclusive" so when it does come back in stock you do have to be a member to buy it

If you do sign up for Biggie, use my link below (or if anyone else here has one, don't want to just be pimping mine) and you'll get a $10 credit applied so your 1-month membership will only be $19 rather than $29 (it will take a few days to be applied, but will be active before the record ships and you aren't charged until the record ships)

So, it would be $19 for the membership, plus the cost of the record? Or is that a one time deal for the record too?

Well the $10 will be applied to whatever order process first. So if you order a record before the Biggie record ships, the $10 will be applied to that record instead, and the membership will still be $29. Basically it gives you a free $10 in store credit that is either applied to your membership, or anything you buy in the store before the record of the month ships

I missed this earlier, but if you haven't checked it out, have a look over at www.reddit.com/r/vinylcollectors
