The Official Killers Appreciation Thread

For all of you Killers' fans out there (and I know there are a few of you), they are currently in the studio working on their 3rd studio album (not including the B-side collection Sawdust). The working title of the album is "Day and Age" and they've debuted a few of the tracks live the last few weeks. They've definitely got much more of a "synth-pop" sound to them like Hot Fuss rather than the "Americana" feel of Sam's Town. Enjoy!

Good god Sam's Town was atrocious. When Rolling Stone gives an album two stars and your first thought is "wow that's WAY too generous", well...you know. The only worthwhile thing on that album is Bones, and they even ruined that with the creepy death choir COOOOOME WIIIITH MEEEEE at the beginning.

I've seen them live twice and while the sets were very similar, they were two of the best concerts I've ever seen.

Fingers are good. I'm actually at Valpo for law school now. I had orientation this past week and classes start on Monday.

    Hot Fuss > Sawdust > Sam's Town

I had to buy 2 copies of Hot Fuss, my first one got too much wear.

I'd still put Sam's Town in front of Sawdust as an album, but that's because only two of the tracks on Sawdust were new to me when it was released.

    Sweet Talk is orgasmic though...

I never said the were the best, but they were "of" the best I've seen. The fact that I was within the first 5 rows for both, caught a drumstick, and got to meet two members of the band helped as well. Plus, when it's your favorite band you're gonna be a little biased.

are you guys serious? Sam's Town is a great fucking record. and Sawdust is just so shitty it's not even funny. Rating that above ST is just plain silly.

Killers are one of the only mainstream bands I respect these days. Great lyrics, music, and Flower's voice is most excellent. I loved Sams Town but thought Sawdust sucked ass, so hopefully they get back on track.

Sawdust as a compilation is a disappointment. There's a reason those songs were B-sides, besides the new songs recorded for the album...Sweet Talk and Leave the Bourbon On the Shelf. Sweet Talk may be the best song they've ever done, at least in my opinion.

    No. Totally disagree.
Hot Fuss was all about the mainstream, and making radio pop music. Only a handful of good songs on that whole album. Sam's Town was a legitimate shot at making a album that possesses some sort of meaning behind its songs. Honestly its one of those albums who's lyrics will stand the test of time and be remembered as a great ode to the Americana sort of lifestyle.

I agree with this, although, I did like Hot Fuss as well.

The Killers are a consistently solid band. They don't really wow me and I never really get really, really excited for their albums, but they're a solid act and always seem to put out good music...IMO of course.

I enjoyed Hot Fuss, but only about half of it. I could listen to it, but after "All These Things...", the only other songs I really liked were "Change Your Mind" and "Midnight Show".

I loved Sam's Town though. That's one of my favorite albums ever. I can listen to it start to finish, and love every song on the album.

I enjoyed Sawdust more than others it seems. But I guess that's because most of the songs were "new" to me. I had only heard about half of the album before it came out (and that's including the two singles Tranquilize and Shadowplay I got off iTunes). I absolutely love their cover of Romeo And Juliet though. I think I listened to that 7 times in a row when I first heard it.

That being said, both Neon Tiger and Spaceman and great tracks, and my preference would be

    Sam's Town > Hot Fuss > Sawdust

    Exactly.

I only hope this next CD can follow in the same footsteps as Sam's Town

Sawdust is great, it has a lot of B-sides I already heard but the damn thing is worth Tranquilize, Under The Gun (my favorite killers song since the Hot Fuss bonus version), and Rome & Juliet. Sam's Town is a solid album, and I hold The Killers very highly, I've enjoyed all 3 of their releases quite a bit.
