Little League World Series

When I was 11, we played against the Toms River, NJ team that won it all in 1998. We played them in another tournament and they absolutely destroyed us in the finals. That Casey Gaynor kid was unhittable.

Anyone else enjoy watching this when August rolls around? Always great watching the kids have fun playing their favorite sport while on national tv. This is why baseball is America's past time.

If I come across it while flipping channels, I will usually watch. I enjoy watching the international teams cuz it's fun to see the little differences in how those teams play the game.

I think it's great, but I would never waste a minute watching it.

Them and that Cuban kid's team were the best I ever saw. Shit, what was his name? Dude was like 17.

I love watching this every year. It totally reminds me of what it was like being a kid playing baseball. I can't imagine what it's like being that age and playing on a national stage like that though. For kids playing baseball, that must be the ultimate experience. They wear their emotions so much on their sleeves. Unlike pros who know they have another day, these kids are most likely playing at the highest level they ever will in terms of national recognition. It's fun to watch them live it up and soak it in.

When I was like 8-13 I don't think I ever missed a game when it was on. But now that I'm in my 20's I don't really watch it too much. Although if I turn it on and there's a kid throwing high 70's I'll normally watch for a while. Some of these kids shouldn't be playing on such a small diamonds, it's not even fair to the kids that are average sized 12 year olds.

I grew up about 30 minutes south of Williamsport. Seeing those kids play live was impressive as hell. Its so hard to understand just how fast these kids are pitching until you see it in person. Moreover, these kids are also able smack those zingers, equivalent to 100 mph pro pitches, all over the park.

If you ever get the chance, check out a few games there, a lot of fun. Free admission, cheap concessions, free parking, etc...

2B for NJ made a helluva diving stop and throw to first to get the last out. DE had runners on 2nd and 3rd down one run too. Great game for both teams.

If you guys weren't watching the Aruba/Chinese-Tapai game, you really missed out. Aruba showed what this tourney is all about: having fun. They were down 20-0 in the 4th inning (10-run mercy rule in affect after the 4th) and with two outs, they scored three runs. They were jumping up and down, having fun and acting like they just won the whole damn tournament. That's what it's all about and that's why I love watching this every August.

Good thing no one placed a bet on Aruba. The Asian teams are so technical in this tournament. The americans should hire Georgetown to fight them.

I check in with it here and there but don't actively seek out the games when they're on. They usually get pretty good SportsCenter coverage, so I'll rely on that. My closest connection to the LLWS is that I used to work games with the first woman to ever umpire in it. She was our local Little League's crew chief. Good umpire, and I think it's almost a harder job to do than umpiring in the pros. Little League parents who think they are right are among the most merciless assholes I've encountered in my life.

some Little League parents are douchebags, and rich Little League parents who have a sense of entitlement are even worse. when i was in LL, my team made it to the county tournament and we played against the team from this town about 15 miles away. the people from this town have always been known to be stuck up, rich, assholes.

we were playing at home and those people were screaming and carrying on the entire game. my team came back to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th and then won it in the 7th. the parents of the other team wouldn't even wait for their kids to get off the field. they went to their cars and waited for them to find them. meanwhile, both teams and the parents of my teammates were at our concession stand where they had free drinks for the players, as they do after every game. everybody else had the spirit of Little League baseball in them except those asshats who ran to their cars.

    Re: Little League World Series

Being from AC, I was one of two white kids on my team. And I had no problem with it. But the entire team got labeled by the racist cities in the woods of South Jersey.

We played a tournament game in Woodbine a few days before Fathers day when I was 12 or 13 (couldn't remember if it was LL or Babe Ruth ball). The game was rained out. So my father, who was the head coach, was discussing with the other coach when we wanted to make up the game and my dad suggested Sunday. Well because it was Father's Day, the other team's parents objected and one person yelled, "just because they don't have fathers doesn't mean we have to not spend a day with our families."

Let's just say we beat the shit out of them when we made up the game.

It's people like that, along with the entitled parents, that I can't stand and that ruin the sport for the children. So selfish and stupid to get in the way of the integrity of the game.

They still have a shot since it's double elimination. But I was rooting for Montana, first time they had a team in there.

I think I've said this before...but in 2007, my brother's team (Kent, WA) was 1 game away from the World Series. We lost the regional championship game to Oregon, a team we had 15-runned the 1st time we played them. It was brutal; people at the games said we not only had a chance to win the regional, but could have easily won the World Series. It was just a fluke game...we always get a little bitter around this time

I know the feeling. When a soph in HS, we had a fluke loss in the State Semis. We would have smoked the championship team. I always get a little bitter too around late November haha.

EDIT: I'm talking about football haha

For some reason I can't stand Japan in the LLWS, let alone them winning. They played a hell of a game though today.
