Re: Little League World Series

How in the hell did Canada beat Mexico??

I'd love to see Uganda run the table. I'm guessing these kids aren't a part of Kony's army?

Canada was smoking Mexico the first two innings. then Mexico made it a good game.

Uganda fucking blows. that region must be aweful. you can tell the kids are athletic, but they don't have any fundamentals, they're just wild and raw. that one ugandan did hammer the fuck out of one ball, over the camera tower in centerfield though.

they're a feel good team for sure, but i feel even worse for them because of how bad everyone feels bad for them. they're almost like a freakshow rather than a legitimate competitor.

Chinese Taipei would drop 30 on them in the first 3 innings.

Uganda beat UAE and Kuwait in the Regional after losing to Saudi Arabia. all of which tend to be white American Ex-pats and army brats that know the game well. they're like the Jamaican bobsled team of Little League Baseball.

The team representing the west is from Petaluma Ca., a town just 20mi west of where i live. I'll be rooting hard for them.

well, lets say its the Midwest as a whole. The Midwest has only won 3 times ever at the LLWS. 3-32 now for the Midwest region. There just isn't that much talent here in the Midwest.

Doesn't help that it's probably the least populated region and we can only play for about 5 months out of the year when the southwest and southeast can play year round.

i hate the baseball year round excuse...

the Big 10 seems to pride it's self on Football, don't they? what's the difference?

i've played baseball in the snow in Texas.

Alaska has done pretty well in the LLWS...

There's a big difference in 12 year olds that can play year round and 12 year olds that can only play half the year. I dont see how that's even a debate.

Alaska's softball team is 2 innings away from winning the whole thing right now.

just because it's cold somewhere (or dark) half the year, doesn't mean you can't play baseball...

as i've said, there's a baseball tournament in the snow somewhere every year in some Texas town...

Teams like that are the exception. Every now and then you see a team from New England or the North West that's a powerhouse but normally the teams from the south regions are better due to playing year round.

for the most part, southern teams are better, yeah.

but the year round issue is no excuse.

it's not like you can't play year round in Canada, Alaska, or Nebraska...

a better explanation would be "the midwest just doesn't like baseball that much". and that would be fine. but blaming it on the weather is ridiculous.

You must not be familiar with winters in the north. Tough to play competitive baseball when there's a foot of snow on the ground and its 20 degrees outside.

They play Tennessee Tomorrow. Texas plays Indiana.

I honestly don't know alot about them (Petaluma) but they already beat a good Connecticut team, who apparently rolled though the NE to get to the WS, and of course just 10 runned Nebraska. I like their chances.

then you don't play that day/week, whatever... it's not like we don't get hurricane's and tropical storms down here.

the south is better because we have larger area/more leagues/more kids to begin with.

I'm from south Dakota and its not unusual at all for games to get snowed out in April. The weather thing is a completely valid excuse for these kids being a step or 2 behind in skills. Same can be said for golf. Southerns have a nice advantage when it comes to those types of sports.
