Note for people requesting shows. Please make sure your source/tape is really good. Sorry, but the Red Rocks 98 show, while on paper looks amazing, it's just not there on tape. No reason to give Xcacel work on something that is out of his control, in terms of mixing or editing. He's working with the source that you send to him. Please just make sure it's a quality audio show before you request it. Of course, if it's just for you, do whatever you please.
The truth is, the more this goes on, the more difficult finding good sources is. Usually I make a quick attempt and if I don’t get any result that’s it. It is the example of the 5.21.1998 show (phoenix, AR) that you recommended once. I cannot do anything with that.
But I didn’t have any 98 show, so, being this the only SBD I had track of, for this year, I gave it a shot.
Next on my list are a couple of IEMs that, when reworked, sound quite good, but I am not sure what are the forum guidelines about those. I don’t think no one cares anymore if we post here an illegal recording of twenty years ago, what is done is done, and I believe that some of you might really enjoy the restored version of those.

The remastering process:
This is far from being my best remaster: the SBD source that I have used had a number of issues. I could handle some of them (balance, de-ess, EQ) but not all of them. Some strong background noise still remains, and I am unable to get rid of it without affecting the music.
On the other hand, this setlist was so good that I felt like sharing the result with the rest of the community.

I haven't listened yet and I'm not sure I was ever aware of a "soundboard" source for this show. One of my favorite shows I ever attended!
Quick question. Was Crash (the oddball last song of the evening) just not recorded on this source?

I wonder if there would be any value in a matrix recording of this with the (also not great) audience recording. I suppose in this situation two bad inputs isn't going to yield anything better.

I am really excited to share today's show. I have been playing quite a lot, recently, and this is really a special show. As you can read in the spoiler below, there was a lot of work to make it as it is now, so, I hope you'll enjoy.

The remastering process:
This one of the hardest work I've done so far. Starting from the IEM that was circulating, with its typical distorted sound, my target was to make it sound almost like a normal source. So I have developed a total new approach to do that.
The phase 1 of mastering was to remove the frequencies that were annoying to me, mostly carter's snares, and I've used a dynamic EQ correction to do that (Waves F6).
Source was converted from stereo to mono with Ozone 9 imager, than it was processed with Ozone 10 for further imaging and EQ.
After that I strongly needed to rebalance the sound (voice vs drums vs bass) and I have used 3 times the master rebalance plugin from Ozone.
Final touches of phase 1 mastering was running again F6 to slightly compress low and high frequency transients which were still unpleasant to my ears, and glue compression with SSL from Waves,
Phase 2 was restoration. All the clips were affected by skips, many (at least 20 per tracks), and I slowly restored all of them, using RX9 Spectral Repair module. This tool is almost magic to me, especially when turning the pattern option, the AI analyses the surrounding part of the missing spot, and try to make his best guess of what was missing. I am not saying that this worked 100%, but I had 300+ skips for this show, so, I you can only notice only few of them is already a huge success.
Phase 3 was going back to Logic ProX and mixing the IEM source with other available. I won't list them all, but I have also used Jon Ice AUD to fill the central part of If I had it All (there was a huge hole in the middle). That is not perfect, I know, but I wanted to keep this track, because I find it beautiful.
I did the splitting in a weird way, because I liked to hear Carter counting before each song. I know that some of you might not like this choice, but that was my choice.
Again, this was a very special to me, and I hope that some of you will live the same emotions I felt, for example, when listening the guys talking between song. You realise how this band was having so much fun at that time of their career.

The remastering process:
The SBD source that I have used has been circulating for a while.
I did a matrix, using that source (which was basically mono), and using the available tape (Craig Willoughby) to fill in between tracks.
Processing included stereo image (S1 from Waves and Ozone 9), EQ (Neutron and Ozone 10), Compression (C4 from Waves and SSL compressor) and limiting.
Then I have processed all the tracks with iZotope RX9 to remove hum, which was noticeable.

Xcacel, cannot thank you enough for these. my favorite live era is late 2000 through 2004. while 2004 is well represented with LT releases, the other years are not. honestly, your remasters are filling that void for me. i LOVE your roverport 00 and meadows 02 remasters. just downloaded both shoreline 00 and now ottawa 02. can't wait to listen! thank you!
edit: i know you get a lot of requests, but anything from 00–04 will always be welcome!

Can anything be done with Mann Center 2017 Dave and Tim? I know the recording we have is pretty good, so not sure anything else can be done to improve the quality...

No, the encore wasn’t present in the source I have used
Thanks for the
Thank you so much Xcacel for all you do. This is incredible. I haven't been this behind on listening to shows since 2000-2001 when it would take 8-12 hours to download an audience recorded show over dial up internet. This is fantastic. I really can't say thank you enough.
For anyone using Apple Music who has organizational OCD with DMB music like me and wants to be able to look up the "Xcacel Remasters" in your library quicker, I put Xcacel as the composter on all the album info. Whether on your phone or computer, if you search your library for Xcacel it will list all the albums in one place. Way easier to see than a playlist!
If there is a chance that this i problem, I prefer to avoid it.
You wont find IEMs on the torrent pages here, but if someone ever sends you one in private DO NOT post it here. Im not sure what that post was referring to exactly, but just didn't want you getting in trouble.
I love where people draw these arbitrary lines for what's acceptable. Perfectly fine to make illegal copies of Sirius streams but not okay to share captured IEM audio? I'm sure an 18 year old recording of an IEM won't rock the band's boat too much.
