My go-to strategy at any First Ave show is to get there early and then I sit on that low wall that runs along the ramp leading down into the main floor area. It's relatively close to the stage, slightly elevated so I can easily see over everyone (I'm only 5'-6"), and I can sit the whole time. It works well if I have the motivation to line up in advance outside the venue before doors open, but it basically requires getting to the venue like 3 hours before the main act takes the stage (at least an hour or more before the doors open).

I mostly hate the standing for several hours before the show actually starts, so by the time the show starts my legs are tired and all I can think about during the show is how uncomfortable I am to still be standing. Also, I like personal space, but I also like to be reasonably close to the stage. Those two ideas conflict at GA shows.

Saw Guster last night in Detroit. As always he’ll of a live show! This bad is severely underrated. I can’t believe how small the venue was (GA)

Waltzed In after the opener and we were 2-3 people back from the rail. Cool chill crowd. Lots of space and everyone was incredibly respectful.

Hung out with Brian afterwards for awhile which is always fun!!

Looking forward to their new album coming out.

If you live on the west coast make sure to go see them. Brian said they get really small crowds out west...... he joked no one shows up to the California shows.

Anyone go to the Minneapolis show last night at the zoo? Another good show. Perfect weather. The improv stuff about hugging it out with a fan who threw a t-shirt at Ryan at last year's show was good stuff. I recorded it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiCKyxkPjNk

The LA pre sale was so dumb, you had to click on 2 extra buttons that weren’t the slightest bit obvious. People were tweeting at the band for just about each shows pre sale.

guster ripped out ~70 songs on this 16 show run? that's pretty impressive, seems teh setlists from night to night were fucking awesome and very generous with variety to people who maybe saw them more than once. wish i saw them at carnegie

That Carnegie show and Ryan's 50th birthday show would have been awesome to see. They didn't come anywhere near here, so I didn't get to see this tour. It always impresses me how this band just continues to have as much enthusiasm for their live shows as they did 20 years ago. They aren't a big popular band, but they just keep doing their thing comfortable with their niche.

Loved the dumpster set they did a couple weeks ago where someone needed to walk through and take out the trash.

Wish they would come back to Florida and if not for kids and not unlimited vacation time I would really try to do an On The Ocean weekend sometime.

I could maybe flip the top two, but LAGF is pretty solidly 3rd. It's absolutely filled with Guster classics, but it feels a little more dated/unpolished, and I'm not the biggest fan of the last few songs.

LAGF is perfect in my opinion.

I definitely prefer the old Guster songs the most however unlike a certain band that we are on a site dedicated to....Guster continues to put out interesting albums.
