Honestly surprised he lasted this long. Wonder who they'll get to fill his shoes. I'd imagine it'll be someone of note and not just another low-name guy. But will agree that he is definitely underrated.

Even if I had known this would be his final tour, I still wouldn't have gone. They were awful when I saw them on their 2014 farewell tour. I can't imagine they got any better last year, and by all the accounts I read they were just as bad.

Also kinda shitty of them to announce new tour dates, let the tickets go on sale, then wait a week before making this announcement. They knew.

Rumors are John 5… which does nothing for me.

I’ve seen them 4x. The band was good each time… Vince on the other hand. Wooof. And they were waaaaaay too loud on 3 occasions. Loudest thing I ever heard was their show in 2005 in a relatively small arena. Pretty sure they used the same rig they would’ve used in the largest stadium on the planet.

Agree that it’s shitty timing. Although, with Mick being as underrated as he is… I do wonder if people that already purchased tickets care all that much anyway.

I do hope that this will give him some time to finally finish his solo record.

Loudest show I've ever been to was Anthrax/Black Label Society at Sturgis last year. Between the motor cycles and standing in front of the speakers at Buffalo Chip I legit thought I had permanent hearing loss. Was kinda scary actually, lol, I am turning into an old man.

Loudest show Ive seen was High on Fire in a glorified coffee shop. It was LOUD. I had my plugs in like usual and it was still a bit uncomfortable, most of the crowd looked miserable.

John 5 doesn't move the needle for me either but he's a name enough to step into Mick's shoes.

But I'm with you Motley Crue is loudest show I've been to. It was painfully loud. Like I was in the back section of an outdoor venue and I left the show early because I was in literal physical pain. It wasn't even just ringing, it was like the cartilage was hurting. I had a mild tinnitus for probably close to 6 months, and even after that I was super sensitive for high pitch sounds for probably another year or two.

Niiiice!!! So glad you made it. I saw on Mike’s twitter that they had some issues getting to the venue because of weather so they were late. Glad the show still went on though!

Totally agree on Petrucci. Great tone, great melodies, flawless playing… he’s got it all.

Yeah JP said they broke down coming from CA and then got stuck behind some accidents after. Rolled into the venue at 7:30! Show was delayed 30 mins as the doors were supposed to be at 7. The crew loaded everything and the show was delayed but they rocked it. I’m very tired. Totally worth it.

What type of venues do you think “pantera” will play nest year? Outdoor or indoor? Size? Tough to get a read on. Was hoping for Fillmore type venues with like 2k but think they may need 5-10k

I would think the best bet for the Pantera-ish thing would be to do a lot of festivals. Built in crowd, fun nostalgia set to headline a second stage or maybe be the third to last act on a mainstage. Depends on the market of course but I could see them struggling to fill 5-10k. They would likely sell out the Warfield, but I don't think they'd come close to filling the Berkeley Greek. And half full venues would be sad vs a packed festival crowd having a blast.

Yeah, it does seem to be mostly festivals. Which sucks… No way in hell am I going to a festival of any kind.

They should just do an Anthrax, BLS, ‘Pantera’ tour. Have ‘Pantera’ as the headliner with Anthrax and BLS doing like 45mins sets so as to not tire out Zach/Charlie.

I got Phil, Ministry and Primus on the final leg and Testament, Anthrax, Behemoth and Lamb of God on the first leg

I got to see Slayer 4-5 times in their final years, all with Gary Holt and not Jeff

Edit: Still, though, I loved to tell people that "seeing Slayer is like getting punched in the face for 90 minutes. Ballads? GTFOH. Fuck ballads"
