I'm in, I loved what I saw at e3 so this is a no brainer for me. Good to see the capabilities it will have with the TVii, probably going for the premium bundle as well.

Gamestop is doing a trade-in offer, and is taking preorders right now. I think it's finally time to give up my PS3, which I haven't turned on in over a year. And since the PS4 is almost certainly not backwards compatible, as I've stated before, I'll probably sell the games as well.

Yep, as I'm sure I mentioned somewhere in this thread, this will be my first Nintendo console since the N64. The thought of a 1080p Zelda is too good to pass up.

I'm such a nerd. I'm getting a bit emotional rounding up all of my PS3 stuff for this Gamestop trade-in. I very rarely ditch gaming hardware while the console generation is still alive, so this is a bit new for me. I've already replaced most of my non-exclusive PS3 games on the PC/360, so it's not even like I'm losing accessibility. Just nerdemotions.

Not sure if I'd say "fantastic" . I remember BEGGING my Mom to bring me to Blockbuster to rent it when it first came out. I think it took me a few hours to beat, and the replay on that was very minimal. I'll stick to my portal pokemon games.

Which reminds me, I bought BLACK about a year ago, put it down after the first gym and never picked it back up. Need to get on that soon.

Got $138 for my PS3 and a few games. Happy with that. Got the deluxe and SMBU, so I'll have two to go off the bat.

I just preordered with Best Buy for in store pickup on launch day. Figure I can always change my mind and return/cancel.

I wish they would have thrown New Super Mario Bros. U in the deluxe. The TVii sounds like they're trying to get into the Google TV / Apple TV market. If they can get good games (outside of the Mario and Zelda series) on to the Wii U, I'd consider buying it.

FWIW, Nintendo Land is much more of an interesting game than Wii Sports, IMO. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Can someone sum up what this new console is and what sort of games are on it? I've read a lot of different things and haven't been following too closely, but what I've heard is interesting. Thanks in advance.

Terrible name aside, it's actually a pretty significant jump from the Wii. It slightly, slightly surpasses both the PS3 and 360 in pure power (it'd be hard not to, of course), so it handles 1080p.

The main feature is the Gamepad, a tablet sitting in the middle of a traditional controller. It's utilized in a lot of really innovative ways. Of course, first-party and Wii U exclusive games will really use it in cool ways, even third party ports use it interestingly. In many games, it acts as a map and an always-open inventory, allowing you to have a less cluttered HUD on your TV, with other information in your hands.

But like I said, some games utilize it in very cool ways. Nintendo Land is the game that is shipping with the deluxe editions of the Wii U, and it's a collection of different multiplayer games. In these mini-games, gameplay is completely split: a few people will be doing one thing on the TV with Wiimotes or pro controllers, while someone else will be playing an entirely different role on the gamepad. In ZombiU, a game I'm super excited about, there's no real thing as pausing the game. Say you're surrounded by zombies, and have to change your inventory around. The game keeps playing on the tv, you have to do everything on your gamepad, while keeping an eye out for zombies on the tv. It sounds like a small thing, but from people who have played it, it's incredibly immersive.

But say you're playing a game on a shared TV, and someone wants to watch TV while you're playing. With the gamepad, it's not a problem: the gamepad supports absolutely lag-free gameplay on just the gamepad screen. You can literally sit there and play console-quality Black Ops II (just as an example) multiplayer, with no extra lag, right in your lap.

Which kind of moves on to the next thing: Nintendo has finally figured out that the internet is a thing that's probably here to stay. If you have a Wii, you know how terribly they handled that. But they've gone from seeming absolutely inept, to really having an online system so complete, that they almost seem to be challenging Facebook. Everything is tied together into what they're (again, annoyingly) calling the Miiverse. You can share as much or as little as you want, but basically everything is tied together. You can leave hints for friends in-game that they'll see when they get to a certain point, you can recommend movies in Netflix, and so on.

I think that's enough for now.

Wow, that sounds awesome. I was reading that a lot of different titles will appear for the Wii U that haven't always been associated with Nintendo(like Final Fantasy...?) if so, then my interest will turn into a purchase. Cool concept, I pretty much detest the Wii. Last Nintendo product I bought(aside from a DS) was the N64. Glad to see them adjusting to 1080p.

Out of those, Nintendoland, Mario, Zombi U, Trine 2, Wonderful 101, Lego City Undercover, Scribblenauts, Pikmin 3, and Rayman Legends are the highlights for me. Talking of exclusives, of course. No reason to play repeats on this system, IMO.

I'll eventually get a Wii U. It won't be my main console because of the baffling decisions Nintendo made in terms of online chat/parties/headsets, ect. I'll continue to play most games I buy for multiplayer for Xbox Live.

Have they made any announcements on how to transfer stuff from Wii to Wii U? I know they said there was going to be a plan for it eventually. I have a bunch of Virtual Console stuff I don't want to lose.

Have they made any announcements on how to transfer stuff from Wii to Wii U? I know they said there was going to be a plan for it eventually. I have a bunch of Virtual Console stuff I don't want to lose.

    Seems pretty simple

    Really looking forward to this.

What's everyone getting? I'll start with Mario and ZombiU. And of course Nintendo Land comes bundled with it.

I'm trying to figure out why I would ever need to buy a pro controller.

Is it on a waiting list everywhere?
I tried to prepay for one and all of the ones they knew that were coming were "sold" already and were at least 20 deep on a waiting list.

Yeah, presales are sold out. I'm sure some stores will have them on Black Friday.

I heard Target doesn't do pre-sales, so if you role up there early, you can get one.

That's how I got my original Wii. I rolled up about 5 minutes before they opened, and there was a huge line. They apparently handed out tickets for who would get a wii, and I clearly missed it. There was a kid up front who had a ticket, but wasn't buying a Wii, just wanted to hang out with some friends. I gave him $10 for his ticket and bought my Wii.

Moral of the story: You can probably get one Sunday at Target, but go early. Real early.
