What is the best produced studio song by DMB?
After all of the concerns regarding the producers on CT, I'm curious what is the best produced song that the band has released.

    Honestly, Crash is the best produced album in my opinion. No other album allows every instrument to shine the way that Crash does. It’s an album that reminds me of Listener Supported, the best DMB released DVD for sound.

    This would have been 3rd for me after my above post. What pushed it down was actually Lillywhite's interview where he talked about how he felt he didn't do it right because Alanis should have been more prominent.

    When we say production quality, what exactly are we talking about? Spoon isn’t impressive when it comes to mixing. The sound is pretty muffled and it’s not as effortless to pick out what you want to hear like Proudest Monkey is.

    Seems some of us are answering from the perspective of our fav studio song, or maybe what we think the best version. Meanwhile I’m answering from a sound perspective?

    More. As I recall he said there were a couple of parts where she is in the background and he said he felt like her work was really strong and she should have been more forward in the mix.

    I love Spoon as it is but it would be amazing if he got to remaster it just to give us an alternate version.

    Well aside from probably LeRoi Moore's greatest studio solo, the way it so carefully unfolds and widens to a huge payoff, and the insane shit Carter is laying down at the peak of the sax solo, no - there's not a whole lot to it.

    It's really perfect. The chaos at the end is amazing and incredibly detailed. It's also the best song for picking out individual contributions. Tim's counter melody in the jam is perfect. Great solos. Everyone playing expertly.
