I've never been an Xbox owner but my dualshock has never run out of battery while I've played in the now 3.5 years I've had it. I'm also not a guy who will sit and play video games all day so perhaps others who have that amount of free time may have run into such a problem. Just plug it in when I'm done playing and it's good to go for the next time.

Probably won’t impact people who play an hour at a time and plug their controller in after every use. Dual shocks definitely last an hour. I don’t plug in all the time because like any internal battery that’s not good for it. I just have an extra controller and I bought a dock that charges my VR stuff and that controller. So I always have one fully charged and I use the other one until it’s dead.

Dualshock I would say around 3 hours or so.

I have two controllers, the other one is always plugged in and charging.

Wait until the new consoles then buy a OneX then. It will be 100 off or so and we are about to hit a wall console tech wise. Only difference between a OneX and next consoles will be about 30 frames per second.

I am not going to buy an Xbox One (own a PS4) but I'm interested for those who have/have played both--which do you prefer? I had a 360 and a PS3 and wound up keeping the 360, but decided to switch back to PS when the 4/One came out.

I've always been an Xbox guy in general but I have both systems. I do everything on the Xbone with the exception of playing the PS4 exclusives.

Im an xbox person. Better controller, better user interface to use the system as a whole entertainment unit instead of just gaming.

The most I've ever played it consecutively was about five hours two Saturdays ago when I was hungover. Full charge lasted the entire time, didn't plug in until I called it quits. Maybe frequent use wears it down quicker but I didn't even get a warning that mine was running low. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you have a 4k tv the OneX is a no brainer at this point. That’s why I’d prefer it if I had to chose one. I was a Sony guy until ps3. Went to 360 then and I’m back to both. PS4 is worth it for exclusives and VR.

It does. Same issue as an iPhone battery essentially. That’s while I’ll always prefer having the rechargeable battery option.

Totally agree with the better controller piece; Xbox controllers are the best. Interesting on the rest bc I always thought of PS as having the best interface, but that is based upon 360 vs 3. I have never gone so far as seeing a One get past the Xbox logo.

I do not have 4k and probably won't for at least a year. By then I doubt I will switch to Xbox again bc the next gen consoles will probably be a year or two away. By then, I'd imagine Sony will have 4k for theirs too and I will just need to decide which I want. It'll probably come down to backward compatability--if Sony offers it I'll stick with PS solely bc I own games for Ps4.

Sony pretty much has to do backwards compatibility at this point. I wouldn’t worry about that not being a thing for ps5. Should probably throw a UHD drive on the thing too.

Tomb Raider is always one of those games that gets my heart racing and audible gasps. Really enjoying the new one as well. So far it’s the same old same old, which is totally fine. No need to change up what works.

Haven't started Shadow yet. I played Rise, but I got my first xbox after Definitive Edition came out so am playing through it now for the first time. Really enjoying it. Still looks great and is almost non-stop action like you say. Will probably go right into Shadow when I'm done.

Ah cool, I've played both games but didn't notice that!

I remember getting bored with LA Noire after a while, a little too much "find all the clues in this small area" types of missions IIRC. (Of course, I probably should have expected something like that before I bought the game... lol)
