I'm aware of this technique but I never do it, because I hardly ever encounter the issue. If you crack eggs right, you don’t need to. If you aren’t good at it, do the two bowl method.

I can relate. Lost power last night after 20 or so flickers throughout the evening. Went to fire up the generator... no gas. No gas in the cans. Went to get gas and made the snap decision to go north b/c the gas station that way is in a less populated area and it's about 37 seconds closer. No power there... or the 2 others further north. So what should've been a 15 min trip to get gas ended up taking over an hour.

Power is fully restored this morning which is good b/c I have a lot of work to do. But I'm also running on just about no sleep.

As for the in-laws... well, they're annoying for a host of reasons. Most notably, they are fucking loud.

The fact that I've basically had 5 months to really work on my oil paintings but have been so uninspired I haven't painted a stroke. I've even gone so far as to put some paint out on my palette but I just don't have the desire. It's really been frustrating.

That sucks. I was an art major in college and after doing my painting course, for years I'd always want to paint and get some use out of all those expensive supplies. Never really did and eventually gave everything away.

I am genuinely done with taking blows this year. Last Tuesday, the tropical storm severely damaged the roof of our store, and two days later a thunderstorm caused severe water damage to the building because we got fucked between the two storms and the person we were hiring didn't secure the roof. Again my poor mother has had to deal with constant stress from this store and is going to be out THOUSANDS of dollars to repair a store she can't get rid of any time soon. I don't know how much more we can endure this year, especially since losing my dad in May. Just absolutely fed up.

And on top of it, I am sick and tired of dealing with fuckheads who don't wear masks, constantly bitch about it and don't adhere to our limiting customers at a time in our small store. Fuck you, go back to your own state and stop bringing your bullshit here.

I'm sorry to hear about all this.

Is insurance not covering the damage? If there is a contractor you retained to do something that they didn't do properly or at all, you may have an avenue of recovery there, as well (assuming they are insured).

The problem is, when my dad was alive he never got the roof insurance (something a lot of businesses in the city didn't get) because it didn't cover wind damage and the deductible was $10k. So when we had the second storm, the secondary damage got lumped into that, so we were screwed anyway.

The first guy didn't get the job because he screwed us over. This current guy was out immediately to patch us up and has been working all weekend and now to get the roof fixed and the internal damage fixed. "Luckily" there was also a burst pipe that they are going to use to help get a lot of the internal damage covered for us and hopefully put toward the roof. It's gonna still be well into the thousands.

EDIT: And thanks guys. Like I've said before. We're managing. My mom is incredibly strong and we're just plowing through. Just enough is enough!
