For one thing it tied the movie to the series.

Other than that I don't know. I don't remember if Malvo even got the money; I don't think he did.

Just finished watching - very good season of TV.

Was hoping to see more convo in here, but there seems to be a lot of Coen Bros bickering

Anyway - Billy Bob was Aces in the show, as was the woman who played Solverson. Great acting all around. It was cool to see all of the little nods to the movie throughout the series.

Even with that said, I feel that there were too many vague references to the 1979 Sioux Falls incident for it not to be the setting of a future season. That would of course require younger versions of characters we've already met (most specifically Molly's dad) to appear in a prequel documenting the investigation of that case.

Finished the first season last night - absolutely loved it. I agree with the criticisms that the Stavros story ended really abruptly and resulted in really having not much to do with the rest of the season - but that's about all I have to complain about. This was some of the most cinematic television I've ever seen. Outstanding performances, directing, writing, the whole bit. That scene in the diner with Malvo and Solverson's dad was just boiling with tension.

Can't wait to start Season 2.

90-minute episode tonight. Thought the premiere was very solid, but like last year, I found the episodes early on to be a little, umm, quirky. Not sure if that's the word I wanna use or not.
