China needs to do the world a service and shut down these wet markets that some of these virus’s come from.

I mean they have bats on top of chickens, and chickens on top of other animals, and they are all shitting on each other spreading diseases. Then people are eating that. No quality control whatsoever. It’s gross, and it’s bound to cause another one of these viruses.

Me too, but my production company is doing what they can to have people work remotely. Obviously filming has stopped but I’m able to do my job from home, for now. Don’t know how long it’ll last though.

Well, my schedule got cleared for a couple of weeks. But I have enough movies, TV, books and music to entertain me. Also, going outside hasn't been banned yet.

Sure I do, but for this particular instance I listened to a Rogan Podcast where I got the information from. Doesn’t mean I can post it. idk why it seems like such an issue to talk about how much of a problem it is over there.

The current virus most likely originated from wet markets in Wuhan, as did SARS. Black Death also originated in China, and the Spanish Flu..and the Third Plague Pandemic..

As of now, I'm considered an essential worker. Yes me, a grocery clerk. The store I work for is open. We've seen business go through the roof as people panic buy. And there I am, face to face letting the people buy their stuff. Am I worried about getting Covid-19, not really. Hopefully the panic buying stops soon because it's not good for all of us in the long run. There's only so much supply. The demand is higher than the supply right now and it needs to be the other way around. Slow down people, and stop over buying. Let the supply build back up so the supply is bigger than the demand.

i feel so lucky. my full time job is in a public school. we are staying home for the next 3 weeks minimum, but still getting paid. still waiting to hear a plan from admin. i'm an OT so i treat kids directly, can't really do much from home besides family education, home recommendations, and consultation.

april vaca plans are cancelled (big sur marathon in cali). but it's small potatoes.

WFH started yesterday, expected to last at least 3 weeks. Canada has narrowed borders, and I expect Americans will soon be locked out too. Our Premier (this Governor) is about to declare a state of emergency and shut everything down (save for grocery/pharmacy/medical offices).

Started WFH yesterday. It's been interesting so far. I bought a 24 inch monitor and make a makeshift "office" in my small house. I have a 4-year old and a 10-month old, but thankfully we have a nanny who is still coming everyday (for now).

As for business, I work in video games. People would think a business like that would thrive in a time like this. Unfortunately, there are tremendous downsides to this and I am interested to see how it all plays out.

I setup a home office for me to continue my school work, but now that Allison is being sent home, she'll need an office setup too. The problem is, we only have one laptop capable of doing the work we need to do. So we're either going to have to split time with it, or buy a new one. With how tenuous my work situation is (ok for now), I'm hesitant to make any big purchases.

MSNBC did a 2 hour special on the virus and had someone either in the exact wet market that they believe in originate in, or a similar one (I don't really remember which). They traced it back to being almost certain that a worker cutting meat from a bat that had this virus got the blood on their hands and then touched their face/eyes afterwards. That was how it made the jump from animals to humans. So how is it a talking point saying that China needs to do something to prevent this type of thing from happening again?

Better PPE would solve the issue, no?

There are solutions other than westerners telling easterners which culture they can have and how they can have it.

I have no idea what PPE stands for but if a practice ends up causing a global pandemic, I don't think it's a talking point to say that that practice should not happen anymore or be significantly changed.

Surely you dont mean PPE (personal protective equipment) in those type of wet markets?

FYI, China already took action, like a month ago: https://www.businessinsider.com/chin...navirus-2020-2

Someone let Tyler know. Also, chickens and bats stacked and shitting on each other? What's that claim about?

At least they don't have poop apples.
