Re: 2018 Price Increases

It's really a matter of your perspective. For some people the band isn't worth it, for some it is. Personally, I think it is. Of course for me it's more than just the show, it's more of a vacation for me and the wife by ourselves. For us it's definitely worth the price. For others, not so much.

Yep. Jimmy Buffett and Dead & Co. have done this for a while now - expensive reserved seating and arguably under-market lawn. They’ve both been really successful at it.

There is no way I can bring myself to pay $60 to sit on a lawn. Just no way.

Going off just the another announced acts at KeyBank (Burgettstown/Pittsburgh), DMB is so far the cheapest.

I looked at just PIT and Sect 2 (where my Warehouse seats are the majority of times, save for a bad year).
    Foreigner: $99 - $1000 (higher includes meet & greet)
    Weezer / Pixies - $187 - $244 (the higher includes a package)
    Tedeschi Trucks - $90 - $275

Do I get where some are a little thrown by a $30 increase?
Sure. But, if you don't think they're worth the $, can you honestly say $95 or $85 was? I just don't really see the difference in value for $30.

I thought the parking was a higher increase at $40 (I thought 2016 was $25). And, I still think I should be able to opt out of the $85. That was and still is my only complaint.

For a band that has regularly put out subpar music and played, in large part, stale shows for however long now? I'd pay no more than whatever I paid in 2016.

I'm not sure you could pay me $60 to sit on the lawn. I think I'd rather not go to a show than sit on the lawn now.

I would not pay those prices for any of those bands either, though Weezer/Pixies is at least understandable. I'm not just picking on DMB here.

I bought tickets for the Weezer/Pixies show in Austin (same venue DMB is playing.) Pit were $99.50 face (and I thought that too high, but at least you're getting two legit bands.) The $187 is VIP. It's showing as the low end because that's all that's left as far as pit goes; at least here.

DMB's "VIP" is up to $325, btw.

You do realize the DMB "package" price is $325/ea right? So those top ends for two of those bands are less than DMB.

$325 for the DMB package? That better include a handjob from Boyd.

New album coming out. Not going to happen anytime soon. I'd rather see a creative and inspired band than a nostalgia act.

Ok. So, take out the package on all of them and guess what - they're all pretty much the same price.

I just don't think it's ridiculous to charge $115 when comparable bands in the same venue are charging basically the same.

Do some people think Weezer / Pixies will put on a better show? Sure. And, they'll buy those tickets vs. DMB. Do some people think DMB will put on the better show? Sure. And they'll buy those tickets. Do some people think they'll both put on a great show? Sure. And, they'll buy tickets to both.

I just don't think $115 is too high because "we used to get cheaper seats."
Concert prices go up. They are charging comparable prices compared to comparable acts.

I see. I suppose everyone had a line.

I look at it lik this, they are my favorite band.

And in comparison of the acts I’ve bought tickets to see in recent memory DMB had still been the cheapest; cheaper than Springsteen, The Who, U2, Petty, Coldplay, the lumineers, and Gaga. Only Whiskey Myers and Shooter Jennings were cheaper... but they aren’t really comparable.

Despite the stale sets I still think the prices are relatively reasonable

DMB will still be a top 25 touring band int he world in 2018, got selected for the exclusive Citi Series, and will be playing a huge show the night before the super bowl. They will outsell many bands that you consider much more relevant. Not to mention the album they are promoting will sell incredibly well.

You really don't need to announce in multiple threads that you don't care about DMB currently, we get it. Move on.
    JT is $46-150 here.

No, but I doubt he's really arguing for that.
If I had to guess, because he's brought it up in the past, he's arguing that seniority is negated b/c we can't opt out of the $85 level.

Multiple tiers is fine and makes sense.
Not allowing an opt out for shitty pavilion seats is the issue.

Including the album with tickets is fairly standard these days.
