2000 was good, but still not as good as the 90's. You couldn't go wrong with Phil Hartman as Bill Clinton, then later Darrel Hammond. Dana Carvey actually pulled off double duty as George Bush and Ross Perot. Norm McDonalds Bob Dole was ok. Heck, Phil Hartman even did James Stockdale in one or two sketches.

I listened to Cecily Strong's interview on WTF a few weeks ago. She talked about how they put her in that role until they all acknowledged it wasn't working and we got the current iteration. They made the right call. Weekend Update is consistently the best part every week.

I thought this week was pretty good. Skip the cold open and the Chad skit and that's a solid show for this cast. Mulaney next week to hopefully keep it going.

Wife and I definitely LOLed at that. I like her a lot. Great music and she's pretty funny. She also looks fantastic. Quarantine did her well.

The fortune teller and the Bachelor skits were excellent (and Adele is just a phenomenal singer). The African Beach skit was hysterical because Adele broke pretty much right away. Weekend Update was as good as it has been.

H.E.R.'s second song was a nice performance - she's kinda got a Prince vibe about her.

Overall, that was probably one of the best all around shows they've done in a while.

Just watched this now because we stopped watching after the terrible grandma sketch. I love when guests can't keep their shit together. It's so funny.

missed it this week since I was exhausted so just watched just about everything except the Bachelor skit and agree with the above. I did like the 2nd song by H.E.R. a lot as she has a nice voice and I can see the Prince connection.

Not a hot take IMO. There’s a reason he’s been on for so long.

Just turned on 30 minutes in. Has Julian or any of the other dudes from the Strokes been in any of the skits?

I thought this was the best cold open of the season so far... I think SNL excels when they aren’t bound to some certain event (debate, judiciary hearings, town hall, etc) that happened in the past week. It’s more fun when they can put those real people in a weird setting.

    Anyway, Dave Chappelle next week!!!

But also we’re just beat over the head with politics. I understand they have to address it, it’s a current event in the news cycle. That’s what they do. But fuck I just want anything else at this point.

Thought last night was good. The cold open was creative. Good use of the holiday and current events. The strolling song was heavy handed but addressed the issue well. The Strokes were cool. The NY lady and underpants skits were funny. The meme skit fell flat except when they missed the high five.

    Pretty good overall episode.

Some of the problem with Carrey as Biden is Jim comes through too much. He falls back to some of those classic characteristics and schticks that made his characters funny, but this isn't a new character.

Lazy writing, coupled with a lazy performance equals a not good Biden.
