What (besides politics) irritates you?

My PTO switched from 28 days a year to unlimited last year when we merged with another company. I've never felt pressured to take less than what I had at my old company and am on pace to take close to 30 for the year. I also got 6 weeks of paid paternity leave last year.

I hate planning trips. I don't know why the thought of sitting down and planning out flights, hotels, itineraries etc. is such a drag. We want to go to Amsterdam and surrounding places this fall, but I just can't bring myself to start making decisions.

We're even talking about doing a date night/staycation in Atlanta this weekend while the in-laws babysit, partly so my wife can try out a night away from the baby for the first time, ahead of the Europe trip. And even for this I have no desire to look into a hotel or things to do

I like traveling and doing these things once I eventually do it, but ugh...

I don't like planning stuff but I get insanely irritated by poor logistics, so a lot of times it translates into me just planning things for myself so I know everything has been considered

I just don't like winging things. where do I need to be and when, how long exactly will it take to get from A to B. I even like looking up a nearby coffee shop to my hotel, which direction it's in, when it opens, etc. for one of the mornings of the trip

I feel like so much time gets wasted when people are unsure of plans

Yeah the last two times I did Eurotrips I had maps with markers for everything from where we were staying to everywhere we'd want to go, and how we could get from place to place. It wasn't a strict timeline itinerary that we had to follow, but it just gave us all the information.

Maybe it's because we have a baby now, or we just moved and are still settling in, but all that just sounds exhausting right now

I love planning trips. I don't do "whens" though. I'll have a list of stuff I want to see or do, but having to follow a schedule makes a trip stressful for me, which is the opposite of what I want to feel when I travel.

it's more stressful to me having a moment of "what do you want to do?" "I don't know, what do you want to do" in a city where you don't live

would rather be able to know that you can explore for a bit, but you have a dinner at 8 at somewhere specific already

Figuring out what to do next over a pint in a bar, or over a cup of coffee, doesn't bother me. I'd rather have that moment than force myself to do something I don't necessarily feel like doing at that point, just because that's what we planned ahead of time. Also don't want to leave something I'm really enjoying because "we have to be at X by this time."


Also often end up finding things to do/eat that I wouldn't have thought of by sitting at the bar and chatting up the bartender.

Here's a cool story bro regarding my FiL. Born / raised in Italy, then when he was 18 moved to Germany, and didn't move to the United States until he was 33 or so. When he went back to Italy - with his family (i.e. Mil, Spouse, BiL), he wouldn't even tell anyone in Europe he was coming - he would just show up & knock on the door of his sister, who lived in rural Italy. Just writing that gives me anxiety.

with the face app stuff, what do they have access to if you don't create an account? the free version doesn't have you enter any info in.

I guess they have access to the photos you create, but that means even people who didn't download the app will still have their face on Face App's servers.
