You are a brave (no pun intended) soul. I know someone who's son got beat to a pulp not far outside Lakewood recently. If Alpharetta's sound system sucks, I'll still take it over Lakewood any day.

It was straight up Pryor St, and for the first 3 miles or so lots of concert car traffic, so no problems

Alpharetta has one of the best in the industry, Lakewood is awful, you'll love Alpharetta's Amp, trust me on that.

We are going to see Florence and the Machine here in two weeks and are staying at A Loft. Says it's 1.4 miles from the venue. If it works out well, that may be where we stay for this show.

I have three available for under face in Sec 102, Row H, $350. There are resale around that same section for sale on Ticketmaster. I may have a buddy who will sell his as well, he's the row ahead of us.

Alpharetta will get a good one, Atlanta has been given solid sets over the years.

Nashville was bad. ATL gets solid shows... I'm also doing Charlotte so I know between the two we'll get some nice stuff.

True, with the exception of 2012, which was probably the worst show I've ever seen. The last few years though have gotten some real treats.

Agreed. That show pissed me off royally because it had 10 repeats from Hangout and I drove so far, blah blah blah. Hangout show was much better energy wise.

I am ok if they do 10 repeats back to back shows when they aren't even remotely close to each other and are very far away, but not ones that are hella close. Pelham to Nashville with 10 repeats was absurd. Hangout to ATL pretty dumb to me too.

What’s a good area to stay in?

I’m staying an extra night and would like a good area that has good nightlife. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

If you want upscale bars and more of a yuppie sort of experience, then Buckhead/Midtown area. Lots of "lets knock back some fireballs with these sorority girls" vibe.

If you want some local (but nationally known) bars, try Decatur, with Brick Store Pub and Leon's Full Service. There's a great record store there, and plenty of food options, including Eddie's Attic where John Mayer and the Indigo Girls got their start.

If you want to go full on Atlanta arts/dive bar, do somewhere near EAV (East Atlanta Village) and check out a local show at 529 or The Earl, grab some food at Argosy, or some pho at So Ba. I'd recommend still staying near Decatur though. Little Five Points is also an Atlanta staple for an eclectic arts scene, and is right up the street from EAV. Fox Brothers BBQ is close by if that's your thing.
