Bottom line? F$@% the trumpet

Violin ain't coming back so if DMB really wants to improve they could throw RR's squealing ass trumpet in the trash. It's beyond terrible. Ill take Tim turned up to 1,000 over that waste of an instrument 8 days a week.

I also hate the stupid trumpet. Always have. It's cringe-worthy 85% of the time.

That’s why I’m SO GLAD they decided to use Jeff on billies and not the damn electric or trumpet!

I was just listening to LT2008 and thinking how great those trumpet solos are on Dreaming Tree and Proudest Monkey.

I’m not a huge OAR fan by any stretch, but I’m sure there must be a few on here. I heard a couple tunes since they started featuring a trumpet (John Lampley I believe?), and that guy seemed a bit more, I don’t know, laid back/tasteful?? Maybe just a small sample size, but maybe someone who sees them more can elaborate.
Anyways, I like the sound of the trumpet. Just maybe not always Rashawns note selections...

Rashawn will be in DMB until the end. When it's all said and done, Rashawn will have been in DMB longer than LeRoi, which is insane. This is his 15th year on the road with DMB

Just here to join in with those saying they enjoy Rashawn. Have always enjoyed his playing and I don't think he gets enough credit. Amazing addition.

Also an OAR fan, but I haven't heard the newer stuff with trumpet. I get what you're talking about as far as playing style, and I feel like Rashawn has started playing more that style a lot of times now that he has a bigger role with Boyd gone. That's not to say there aren't times he really goes for it with the high stuff, which he doesn't always quite get right but I appreciate how difficult of an instrument it is and that he is putting it out there and taking chances.

He needs to just chill out sometimes. He plays the trumpet like he's ripping off a wailing guitar solo.

I agree, there are instances where he’s good, but it’s rare. Most of the time he’s not doing anything special except blaring the trumpet as loud as possible.

There’s a reason this thread and opinion keeps popping up for RR, but never for Jeff.

I’d like to make it the premium package and include Buddy too. Organ needs to go.

This band would sound much better with just Dave, Stefan, Carter, and Jeff. If anything, bring back Butch or hire Hamilton. Hell, bring on Warren Haynes.. that would be incredible.
