Excited to make the trip back to SPAC for the 3rd year and see you folks again!

Booked rooms at the Saratoga Inn back in Jan based on rumors. Any thoughts?

We stayed at the Best Western the last two years.

Easy walk downtown and you could technically walk to SPAC. I think you'll like it.

Any advice for a 1st time SPACer? It's me and 3 other buddies (airbnb is already locked in)....is there any hope at all of us getting 4 reserved tickets together? If we're forced to do lawn, where are the best sight lines and the best sound? Any spots on the lawn to absolutely avoid?

And as far as tailgating, advice on the best lots? Any rules with the township we need to abide by? Basically going in blind, so any and all tips are appreciated!!!

    Avoid the lawn all together.

    Where is your Airbnb located?

N1: tailgate in the Route 50 East lots (get there as soon as they open). Put your drinks in cups and don't act a fool and you will be fine.
N2: Ballsfest (all you can eat and drink benefit for kids with cancer in the state park)

I stay at the Inn at Saratoga every year. Love it there. Free continental breakfast if you can get up in time. As Brad said, it is within walking distance of SPAC. I did the walk for a few years and was nice. Now that I go with my son, we usually end up driving over to the venue and BallsFest.

Is there anything better then Nutter Butters in the parking lot post-tailgate after N1? Does Moses successfully guide his people out of the venue?

Four is tough but not completely impossible but TOUGH. Cheryl had four together last year.

Don't do lawn. Don't ever do SPAC lawn (of course someone will chime in here and say how awesome lawn is - don't listen to that person - it's ). And best site lines?? EEEEKKKK... you're basically trying to peak between an opening... Don't do lawn. Ok, I'm done talking smack now.

    Good luck!

Right except WH now changed the ticket limit to 2 instead of 4

We had fun being seat buddies last year though!! Front row balcony FTW!

4 together is doable, but will be very hard with the ticket limits. I've done 3 or 4 together every year since 2013, and it was a huge pain in the ass even before the change to limits. Would you consider breaking it up to 2 and 2? That's probably the most likely way to get it done.

As others said, avoid the lawn as if your life depends on it. Seriously, it's awful out there. If you still find yourself in that abyss of despair, seek refuge by the video screen to the left of the venue between the 2 far left bridges to the balcony. And wear rubber shoes; you will be peed on.

As far as lots, route 50 was always our go-to. Beers in cups and you're fine. Just don't be dumb and you'll have no issues.

Look/try for 2 pairs, then the pair with the best tickets offers people on either side of the people with the poorer seats an upgrade...it's very rare you won't find someone who doesn't want to have better seats and then you get to enjoy the show together. It's far less hassle than trying to organize four in a row beforehand.

Heck I've had decent Section 7 seats and gone up to the balcony and let people bump up so I could enjoy the show with my favorite people. I think in 2008 we had 12 people together in the balcony in the room for 6 seats, haha. Stand in a zig zag pattern forwards/backwards. As long as you're not affecting the room of people on the sides of you who are NOT in your group, it's all good (we had the end of a section by an aisle which made it more do-able). But for four in a row, the two pair method is absolutely the way to go.

Hahahaha ugh I'm getting nervous. So I get that lawn is going to be miserable, but how does one go about getting 4 reserved tickets together when the warehouse presale only allows for 2? The Citi presale and public on-sale will be a shit-show, and the message boards are more ISO then FS, so I feel like I'm trying for the impossible.

Basically if I'm faced with the unfortunate but likely task of enjoying myself on the SPAC lawn, are there any pro-tips for survival? I can see from google images that those ramps into the uppers look miserable to be behind, and the projection screens seem tiny. At the same time, it looks like the front of the lawn is pretty close to the stage compared to most major venues...is that correct? What are the downsides of going into that front area...packed like sardines?

Sorry in advance for all the questions and the many to come, I just want my cherry-popping SPAC experience to be special!

Correct. you probably won't have a front of a lawn closer to a stage on this tour. but you will be packed in like sardines.

do you NEED to sit 4 together for those 3 hours?

    This is helpful, thanks!!

Although jesus, it's really that bad? My home venue is Camden and I hear similar horror stories about the Camden lawn but it's really not that bad at all as long as you don't stand next to a bunch of teenagers. Is it the same for SPAC or does it take what happens at Camden to another level?

It's far less hassle than trying to organize four in a row beforehand.
This is a phenomenal suggestion, thank you!!!

That, plus a whole host of shittiness. Be prepared to fight off the high school drunks and "bros" who are looking to pick a fight. And seriously, consider footwear you don't care about.

The absolute bottom of the lawn has a decent view, and the video screens are big enough.

Honestly, if I were forced to do lawn, I'd be more likely to chill up higher on the back of the lawn. You would have almost no view of the stage or screens, but you'd be in a more peaceful place and would be able to enjoy the night a lot more than many people in the crowd below you.

We have also done this at SPAC and other venues and have never been denied.

Sorry in advance for all the questions and the many to come, I just want my cherry-popping SPAC experience to be special!

Although jesus, it's really that bad? My home venue is Camden and I hear similar horror stories about the Camden lawn but it's really not that bad at all as long as you don't stand next to a bunch of teenagers. Is it the same for SPAC or does it take what happens at Camden to another level?
I see we have a new #ethaning SPAC-goer. Welcome. Ask away, many helpful people here. Be proud that we have adorned you with the high praise of the #ethaning hashtag. The real Ethan is an Ants user, great guy, just sweated all the details, and in return we created a hashtag just for those moments.

, yes, the O-man and I will be back at SPAC this year. The shows this year are the closest I have ever gotten to a birthday show, so pretty pumped for that.
