I am currently downloading the '06 Summer Blossom Show using UTorrent in FLAC format. I am going to use foobar2000 to convert them to .mp3...will I be able to play these files in iTunes?

    Thanks

Hi i'm obviously totally retarded and i'm sure this has already been asked and answered but i have manged to download the 5.2.07 gig and eventually manged to convert it to FLAC (i think) and currenty it's playing on foobar2000. My question is i can't seem to save it to my harddrive and then burn it, how do i do this? Also does this mean i am now able to seed? How do i know if i am set up correctly to share?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Here is Mac OSX info:

The following app can transcode from just about any format to any other format, and it does it speedily and easily, let's you do big batches of files at once, etc. Has a nice interface, very customizable.

Great for converting FLAC > mp3.

Program is called 'Max' - here's the link:

    http://sbooth.org/Max/

For simple playing of FLAC files (plus many other audio/video formats) on Mac, I recommend the open source, stable, and lightweight VLC:

I decided to start downloading shows! I downloaded shows, and converted/decoded through flac front end.

The problem is, once decoded I cannot get a seemless transitions between songs!

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?!?!

    Thanks in advance!

This website tells you in-depth about FLAC:
    http://flac.sourceforge.net/

This is where you download (be sure to download the program appropriate for your computer):
    http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

    Click "Add Files"
You can add multiple files or just one. Whatever you want.
You can choose where you want the .flac files to decode. Click "Output Directory" to decide.
    Finally, click "Decode"
A black dos window will pop up to show the progress of the decoding. When all the files are finished decoding, the final line on the dos screen will say "click any key to continue..."

I'll disagree with that. There are still things xACT does that Max doesn't

    (and it's not slower....)

unless you want these on an ipod or mp3 player there is no need at all to ever convert a flac or shn file.
you can use any converter provided it has flac shn codecs. 2 off the top of head is nero and traders little helper. for burning a regular audio cd to play in any cd player all you need is burrrn it recodes flac, shn, ape, ogg, cda, wav, mp3, etc...... no prior converting required. it's a free program and simple as hell to use. burns awesome at 2x and automaticly burns disc at once. for all req. audio cd's of flac and shn shows I use this program and this program only, it burns better than nero, and some other programs Ive used. This whole converting thing still baffles me, I dont know why everyone is so bent on converting. cause unless you want the songs on an ipod or an mp3 player this is no need or reason

I don't hardly ever listen to CDs. I use my iPod plugged into my AUX port in my car. That's why I need to convert it. In fact, I'll still end up getting the new album on CD and probably listen to it from the CD in my car at first, but will likely go back to having it on my iPod. That way I can create playlists, etc.

I ended up downloading the program "foobar", which worked like a charm.

flac is a much bigger file than variable mp3 which is what i convert to. Each show ends up being about a quarter of the size of the flac size. And when you have a lot of shows and a small harddrive, converting is a pretty viable option.

Also, I don't know about you guys, but I can't necessarily tell the difference in quality between the two filetypes and I have a pretty good system..

Also, I don't know about you guys, but I can't necessarily tell the difference in quality between the two filetypes and I have a pretty good system..

I can tell the difference between the two by the crispness and range of sounds on the track. For instance, I can clearly hear Carter's drums over Boyd, and then pick up Fonzy's bass and hear when Leshawn jumps in when I have the FLAC playing on my Surround Sound system, even just using the headphone jack from my netbook, and when I use an mp3, it's flatter and less distinct. In the beginning I didn't care since I was thrilled to learn how to forward ports and just amazed that ppl could pull live music outta the air from a concert I was just at and have it on my ipod in 2 days. But with time I'm able to find the diff. Plus, I only DL shows that I've been to (16ish) and then only some of the highly recommended ones. So in my book, if you get an opp to play using the FLAC files, do it. Turn up the surround sound, partake in your favorite stimulants, and lay back and pretend you're on the lawn groovin with some drunken college coed grindin her Abercrombie shorts all up on you haha. Take it easy...

Hey, not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but FLACTunes is awesome for this! (If you have a Mac)
All you do is drag your FLAC files into the window and it automatically imports and organizes your files into iTunes in Apple's Lossless format.
Just happened to come across this app and thought I'd post it...
