Had you waited until the literal very last minute to pre-order, they would have had a Warehouse copy for you despite their claims "until supplies last", which is what they had over after the pre-order ended.

Watched this the other night and wow, that was the good old days. 2002 was a heck of a tour I always thought.

Seek Up was great and the SMTS--ASTB--Too Much was awesome with the extra horns in there.

My wife had no clue who James Brown was...god help her!

Most likely that's because they want as accurate a 'sales' count as possible so they don't burn any money. Labels pay publishers/songwriters a mechanical rate for every single album manufactured. So if RCA prints 50,000 CDs of a show, Dave/other songwriters get paid for every copy regardless of if they sell, as opposed to the royalties the band gets for actual sales. For the LTs, there's sales to offset those costs. For the bonus discs, there's no return. It's free. So they are paying manufacturing + mechanicals. So it doesn't make sense to have free goods laying around, you just wasted money. It's not as bad to have LT product on hand since they make a nice profit from a sale of any of those.

This is just an incredible release! Just might be their best release to date. The band sounds absolutely flawless and the sound is impeccable! One hell of a set list too! Two thumbs way up on this one!

Wow, that's some high praise. Do you mean best release in terms of best show ever released, or just the best general package (CD+Bluray+bonus disc)?

I should give my copy a listen already. Haven't made it past Pig yet.

I like LT39 a bit more overall, but this is defintely up there.

It is easily up there among the best shows released and I think it just may be their best DVD released. It's right up there with Central Park and Listener Supported!

Great release.. definitely in my top 3 LT's. Boyd sounds so clear and he doesn't miss a note. Best I've heard Boyd on a release. Him and Roi really stand out to me. Carter is a little low in the mix but whole band sounds great and is a good setlist.

blasphemous post here.......LT40 and the bonus disk are very very good, but.........to my untrained ear I don't hear a big difference in specific songs from what recent DMB sounds like. Or maybe I should say I hear some differences, but not better versions.

Quick example, I prefer Citi Field Stone to the LT40 bonus disc Stone.

Different opinions and preferences, and that's alright. However, I don't know how it's remotely possible not to hear the obvious differences between DMB of 2002 and DMB of 2016. Don't take that the wrong way, but I just can't see how you can't hear a difference.

I mean for starters, Dave is actually singing on grey st. Not muffling through the song like current performances, unable to catch his breath. (singing "And setting fiiireee to THIS LIFE" versus screaming "AND SETTING. FIRE. TO. THIS. LIFE.") yes. Just sounds too choppy the way he sings it now

You can prefer whatever you want, but the sound and how they play is totally different between 2002 and present dmb.

Take 2002 then subtract Boyd and add an obnoxiously loud electric guitar drowning out Dave's guitar, a squealing trumpet, sax player that plays nothing like LeRoi, Carter overplaying all together at the speed of light and you start to see a difference

I hear all you guys, but I must just not listen critically enough. As I listened carefully to LT 40, I was not struck by all these obvious differences. Probably I'm fortunate that I can almost equally enjoy present day DMB as pre-2005 DMB. (again, I am talking about current versions of songs that have been around awhile. No disputing that overall setlists have declined significantly with the post-2004 songs.)

I think some of it depends on what you focus on when you listen. Bass is my primary instrument, so I pick up alot of what the bass player is doing (and drums and other rhythm setting instruments) so for example, listen to Grey St on LT 40 and then a Grey St from a more recent release. Fonz is barely audible these days, and on LT 40 his lines are out front and really drive the sections that lead into the "and all the colors mix together..." part of the song. I love those bass lines and its a bummer to not be able to hear them anymore.

It's great to be able to hear what individuals are doing and appreciate it, you listen even to the original Lillywhite Sessions Grey Street and Fonz is awesome throughout the entire song. Listen to Jimi Thing from Central Park, he is rolling around all the time like McCartney...fantastic player. It's truly a shame Grey St has lost all its nuance.

Management should have offered the same higher resolution audio as what's on the BD as a HD-FLAC. I would have bought the CD/BD AND the higher resolution FLAC download.

Great point and I love Stefan's playing, I'm an acoustic guitar player / singer so my focus is always on what Dave is doing, not just because he is the front man. I really miss hearing the acoustic so clearly, if they are going to have Tim there I wish they could find a better balance.

Tim is a good enough player and Dave is (by all accounts) the ruler of the band so there HAD to have been a very conscious choice for Tim to play how he's played since returning. Live In Chicago Tim sounds like it's an entirely different guitarist sometimes.

I enjoy both in various contexts but 95/98 Tim is the best.

Anyone have any issues ordering digital download? Getting "failed to create download session" & "an unexpected error occurred" errors. Tried calling musictoday & got a voice prompt saying "unavailable due to unforseen circumstances"

Quick example, I prefer Citi Field Stone to the LT40 bonus disc Stone.

Argh..another issue. My hard drive was full when I was downloading so it skipped like 3 songs, now it says "download limit reached". How long does that last? Cleared up plenty of space so I have room now
