corny yes, but ever since I can remember I always wake up the day of a show and the first thought that comes to my head (and usually the first words that come out of my mouth) is "it's Dave Day!"

I have had the pleasure of attending many of my almost 200 shows with the same great DMB family, and the it's Dave Day phrase has become an ongoing thing we all get a good laugh out of, and usually say simultaneously once or twice during the day. we're kind of losers

One Sweet World is honestly my favorite opener, it's a nice subtle start to the show but it gets me in a great mood for some reason.

I have gotten One Sweet World to open 3 of my 21 shows I have been too. And I must admit the only way I'd ever take it again to open is with the Instrumental intro.

I agree, the instrumental intro version is the best. Something about that song just says summertime to me.

There's definitely an awesome feeling in the air when you wake up the morning of a show. Knowing in a matter of hours you will be surrounded by great people and great music.

FIRST trip to Alpine was in 2010, still get chills when I watch the youtube of the OSW opener............(especially when there was a lack of OSW openers that year before Alpine) SMILE BIG, it was a GREAT couple of shows! Can't wait to have that feeling again!

I'm calling Bartender opener 7/6 and OSW opener 7/7

Alpine is definitely the venue that I prefer it most at, I think it just reminds me of all the great experiences I've had there over the years

I never listen to who I am going to see the day of the show. I'll take whoevers music off my iPod so nothing comes up in a random, and I always try to avoid the parking lots at a dmb show. I'd rather see a song and not think I just listened to that an hour ago standing in the parking lot.

I've had it as an opener 3 times as well. I have to be honest-it's not my fave.

This. The other side of the coin would be rubbing one out yourself right before you know you're about to have amazing sex. Just wouldn't be as good.

I dont listen to dmb exclusively but I still love hearing them in the lots. I like to go a week or so before the day of the show without listening to dmb, makes the day more exciting for me.

On the other hand I do avoid setlists and the boards for a good month before I attend a show. I prefer not to know whats likely to be played the day of a show

This is very true. You can predict with pretty good accuracy what your likely to hear if you are set-watching day in and day out.

Although I may just break down and do this too.

Nope. Fasting for a couple weeks makes the show that much better. The drive home afterward is a whole nother story though...

I live for "Dave Day"! We'll usually listen to them on the way there and do some Pandora in the lot. I might try this fasting thing this year.

Always yeah, maybe a couple other bands mixed in too, but mostly DMB. I think its stupid that people think it ruins the show if you listen to DMB during the day.

Nope. Don't get to see DMB live every day. I do get to listen to their recorded works everyday. No reason to listen to recordings before going to see them. People who do i think should listen to something else for one day. I don't think you realize how it makes you look, sitting there in your flip flops, with the beer you're too young to drink, car doors open with DMBMP3Z playin on those factory speakers which are nearly blown...you look so cool.

You just described last years Hartford blink-182 concert to a T.
