2021 Tour Rumors/Status

Long time lurker, first time poster. Thanks to all for the rumors/status/wild speculation posts. This is pretty much the only thing keeping me sane right now (come on Gorge 2021...).

In any case I thought I'd finally contribute something of value. Does that mean 5,000 people on the SPAC lawn and an empty Pav for DMB is a possibility??

Agreed. I'm hoping to see some shows in 2021, but if we have to wait until 2022 to do so safely, then that's fine.

With the way vaccines are rolling out it seems pretty clear that we don't need to wait until 2022 to do so safely. We might have to wait until 2022 for regulations to catch up to what is actually safe, but that isn't the same thing.

Just be nice to know what the plan is one way or another. If we don't get a full tour I'll still take a new album to hold me over. One factor bands may be considering is even if things start to open some people will still have hesitations of being in large crowds. My hope is a tour...my gut is no tour and this news supports that.

My thoughts exactly. I have accepted that there will be no shows in 2021, for logistical reasons more so than Covid safety reasons.

I get shot #1 on 3/31, so I will be all vaccinated by the end of April. That’s when this ends for me. I’ll be enjoying my life to the best of my ability at that point, and keep hoping that things change and some shows can happen this fall.

Update for me... my cousin is a nurse, and she called me to tell me the county health dept had a surplus of vaccines they needed to use up today. I dropped what I was doing at work and went straight over. So I just got #1 unexpectedly, and will get #2 on 4/15. This pleases me!

I am. But even moreso after I get #2... that's when I will officially give zero fucks. My parents are basically treating me like patient zero until I get #2 now, even though they are fully vaccinated. I also have some friends that won't let me see them until I am fully vaccinated, so I'm excited to see them again.

Outside Lands happening?

On the other hand, fellow California music festival Outside Lands announced that it will take place over Halloween weekend. The festival normally takes place at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park in August. While Outside Lands does not attract the 125,000-person capacity crowd that Coachella does, it represents yet another large, mainstream festival that also takes place in California among strict COVID-19 regulations.

Avett Brothers are doing 3 shows at the Bonnaroo Site in Manchester. Have to buy tickets in Socially-Distanced pods of 4. I'd be up for something like that.

Not at all. I have tickets to the gorge, it's all I'm hoping for at this point. I feel like no summer tour in some ways still leaves open the dates after the August break? But that's me trying to stay optimistic as it's still technically the end of summer.

I kept my SPAC tickets from 2020 and if the (general) consensus of this thread is right, I might be using them in 2022.... Either pushing June/July dates to August or just starting with the Gorge and trying to reschedule to fall dates is going to be easier said than done with NHL/NBA seasons starting in so many of these venues' host cities (Chicago, Boston, DC, Miami). the indoor shows have a lot going for them but it's still not anything close to being somewhere like Blossom, Nissan, etc. Indoors or outdoors, much like everyone else in here I just want to see the band live and safely

The glass 1/2 full approach to this: If they keep pushing shows out a year at a time, my kids may be able to stay home alone by the time time we actually get to see DMB at Mohegan, and save me from getting a sitter. ;-)

lol!! I'll be asking for a refund if it gets cancelled / postponed this time. Can't imagine the shit show it will be refunding all the shows.

Some good info about Summerfest in Milwaukee. Currently scheduled for Sept. they also have info in this article about other festivals. No specific DMB news on whether or not they will be a part of the rescheduled Summerfest lineup.

It seems that “socially distanced pods” is where things are presently going. I don’t expect that would be sufficient for a DMB show, but who knows?
Twiddle just announced socially distanced pod shows in NH and CT in mid-May.
