This is what I'm most curious about. Weirdly enough by releasing Solo in May that means the next Star Wars movie will be out 19 months after. That's the longest stretch between SW movies since the 10 years between RotS and TFA.

For all the people that hated TLJ how many have pledged they won't see Episode IX? How many of them have just SAID they won't see it but actually will. How many of them will be persuaded by either leaks, marketing, trailers, etc.

It will be interesting to see.

Literally none. I know we've beaten this analogy into the ground, but they're the same as the DMB fans here who swear every summer that they're done going to shows and they're boycotting because of the setlists or the new album sucks or whatever other reason, and they still all go to the show.

Every one of these fanboys who are still whining about TLJ 6 months later will be buying advance tickets for Ep IX the first day they're available.

Yeah, I think the TLJ haters took out their frustration on Solo. I think EIX will be do just fine.

That said, I said I wouldn't go to the Solo film when it was announced and I have not gone to see it. I'll probably watch it somewhere for free/cheap when its released on video but I still think it was a stupid money grab and Han Solo should have been left alone

No way he is going to say anything bad about Rian considering they're both actively working for LucasFilm.

In terms of "retcon" what exactly do people think JJ would "fix"?

I think the more interesting aspect would be if Rian Johnson was directing this next movie, and how it would perform. with it being Abrams, you're already more likely to get more people to see it, so I don't think the numbers will be as bad. I guess we'll have to wait until Johnson's trilogy to see the true effect of TLJ, but even then so much time will have passed.

I think the question now is, will RJ still get his own trilogy? I hope so, but would not be shocked if Disney pulls out of that.

yeah that's another good point. should be interesting to watch.

personally, I think if he had a chance to see his vision through 3 movies, that they'd be really good.

Totally agree, but a lot of angry fanboys don't like Rian. Seems like a big risk for Disney at this point.

I guess we're in the "wait and see" phase right now. Episode IX is currently being filmed. I would assume by the end of this year we would hear about what the next SW to come out after that would be considering production for that would start in 2019 if they are aiming for a "once a year" approach.

If it's "Untitled Rian Johnson New Trilogy Movie 1" then there's your answer. If it's an Anthology movie or one from the Game of Thrones guys then it just adds to speculation that Rian's trilogy is cancelled.

I don't think he would be let go. But I wouldn't be surprised if he were to take a back seat from directing three more movies and just write it. Or if he writes it all out ahead of time and he tries to pull a LotR and film it all at once.
