One could argue that Jordan retiring a few times and is lack of Finals appearances despite great talent around him suggests his 'heart' isn't quite what you described it. That's not really what I believe though.

My friend tried to push the "The East sucks, it's not really that impressive" narrative. Didn't work. Lebron is the GOAT even without this series...and if he somehow wins the finals with this team, the debate becomes less competitive.

What a phenomenal performance by Lebron. Jeff Green stepped up too. It's such a privilege to be able to watch Lebron play. I hope he can do it 4 more times to bring home the championship.

As far as the GOAT thing is concerned I think everyone can agree that there has never been anyone better at playing basketball than Lebron. You can debate the more decorated career, but not the skill with which Lebron plays.

Did he not do that in 2016? He led his team to a ring from down 3-1 against the greatest team ever. He did so by leading every player on both teams in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks!

Does he have to do it again to help his case?

I've finally shifted from the MJ camp to the Bron camp. He may be the greatest athlete of any sport I've seen in my lifetime.

It doesn’t work because LeBron still plays at a ridiculously superior level compared to every other player that also has to play against the same players/teams/conference. It’s an extremely weak argument.

Your argument really has nothing to do with comparing 80's / 90's NBA to LeBron's time

And let’s not act like Lebrons history is fully written. At the same age Jordan had the same number of titles and worse overall playoff performance.

At 33, Jordan had been to 3 Finals.
At 33, Lebron is going to his 9th Finals.

It just can't be about championships (although it is one of the most important factors) or the argument would start and end with Bill Russell.

If the Celtics aren’t “legit” and thus there are no “legit” teams in the East, are we basically saying there are only two “legit” teams in the NBA (Cavs excluded) because I’d sure take these Celtics over every West team not the Warriors or Rockets. Doesn’t seem like an appropriate qualifier to add to this Lebrun run.

I will always side with MJ growing up watching him. There was nothing like it. LeBron is approaching him. The one thing that I think holds him back for me is not the losses in the finals with the shitty teams, it's not winning 4 in a row in Miami. They had 3 HOFers, and one borderline HOFer and they went 2-2. I don't believe Jordan loses any of those finals, although him and Wade are the same position so I'm not sure how the roster works, but whatever.

The way it worked out this year I’d say there were no legit teams in the east.

The Spurs loss was pretty much expected. The Mavericks was the perplexing one.

    Excellent posts.

I’m old enough to have watched Jordan through every bit of his career. It’s easy to forget the first portion when he was given plenty of shit that he was never going to win anything.

The person most upset with this chokejob by the Rockets is Lebron as he had a chance against the Rockets. The Cavs - unless Golden State suffers major injuries - have no chance against the Warriors.
