Quinnipiac has had some big house effects in the sunbelt polling (I think they've overweighted white-no college that lean towards Dems - they assume it's the same as Midwest, but it isn't), but I don't think there's a methodology issue here. They conducted their poll, got the results, reported them.

Is it an outlier? Almost definitely. But it is far better that they release it than to keep it sealed and participating in herding - which is a big no-no in polling if you want to retain credibility.

His letter simply states what he has witnessed with his own two eyes. Knowing him there is zero reason to think he is being disingenuous or delusional.
