That's the conclusion I'm coming to, also. I think dmb employs a lackluster pressing plant.
I'm not new to
vinyl. I have a record washer. I wash all of my new stuff and I know that
vinyl isn't perfect. It's just that every single dmb
vinyl I get has an issue... usually small scratches or an insane (abnormal) amount of surface noise. It's always something. But it's like you said... cheaper plants.
There is a vast difference between dmb
vinyl and, say, Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin reissues. Or Pearl Jam's stuff. Whatever.
Come to find out, a lot of plants are using recycled
vinyl for their pressings instead of virgin
vinyl. You can certainly tell the difference of who is using what.
