Wrigley Field Gets A Release

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Live Releases on 2/13/11 6:05pm

The next Dave Matthews Band release - outside the Live Trax Family, is slated for release. According to Amazon, Live At Wrigley Field will be released March 29, 2011.

Amazon calls the release "1 CD", and for those of you with advanced math skills, you'll note that Wrigley was two nights. That means it's only a one-night release, or it's a compilation of the two shows. According to our complicated scoring system, night two is sitting at 4.55 stars; that puts it at the 8th most popular show of the 2010 summer tour according to those attending the show.

But as usual, nothing's official until you hear it from the official site.

  • UPDATE: In case you haven't been following the boards, well, first shame on you, and second, the date has not been the 29th for a while. Amazon jumped the gun (that's why we said it ain't official until the official site says it's coming). However, it's worth noting that a few sites - including CD Universe have an April 12 listing for a release date. They also show it to be 2 discs and the release to be night 2. So if that's correct, expect an announcement... soon.

City Approves [band name] To Play Wrigley

Posted by Joe M in Tour News on 3/3/10 2:07pm

Today was the City Council Panel meeting that many of you were curious to hear about. We've been here before many times, only to get rejected at the last minute by that unfavorable vote. This time we owe it to local Aldermen Tom Tunney, the Cubs organization, and the local synagogues (the dates fall on Jewish holiday Yom Kippur) for their support because the vote passed the panel. Longtime active Ant, saxlover, was at the meeting to get the details. They passed the ordinance to allow 2 additional events at Wrigley, September 17th and 18th, for a concert but without a band mentioned. Rumors have been flying high that Dave Matthews Band are the ones slotted as the front runners for the spot and people at the council panel meeting seemed to believe it was DMB also. The plan will next go to the full City Council for consideration. So baring any Steve Bartman incidents and unlike 2007, DMB will be rocking Wrigley Field come September 17th and 18th.

The Concert add-ins; Bonnaroo and ?

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Tour News on 2/11/10 6:11am

As you've already seen, The Official Site dramatically revealed that Dave Matthews Band will perform at BonarooJune 10-13 (a secret not well kept in the internet community; word leaked out weeks ago). But the burning question is, "will there be more shows added?"

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, there are two more shows coming. Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, is slated to hold two DMB shows. Or, maybe they're not... another website reports that DMB is in the running for 2 shows September 17 and 18, but the competition is between Phish, Paul McCartney, and the DMB. So in other words, don't book that flight to Chicago just yet.

And of course, everyone who lives in the Rockies wants to know if DMB is returning to Colorado. Internet whispers have mentioned the little venue who's name rhymes with "deadsox"; but no publication has mentioned any Colorado dates... yet. So don't get your hopes up too high. Yet.
