Very unfortunate that it rained! Had a great time even though I was in Boulder, not my favorite city in Denver

As we were leaving, I said to my husband that the show seemed so stiff and formal, that there wasn't much banter, not much talking, and that the crowd was camera-crazy. When we found out that it was to be released on DVD and CD, I understood why. It was a good show, but seemed so uptight. Warehouse is always fun, and you can't beat hearing JTR live!

One of the best shows of all time. The official release does not do it justice. It was an amazing night. Bartender will never be forgotten.

Luckily, my cousin was able to find me a ticket last minute because this was a fun night. I thought the setlist was great. I thought the songs from Everyday went over well live and I had no complaints at all. Great energy from the band and the crowd was in good very spirits.

Got paid to do security to stand in front of the BBC cameras on the floor and watch the show, doesn't get better than that. Unless Wyclef opens up after a downpour and rocks the stadium, best DMB opener ever!

A highly enjoyable show, but I have seen better. It rained heavily for a while before they came on. Bartender was particularly good. JTR and Big Eyed Fish were other highlights.

This show was great, although I think Dave got confused about where he was at when he came out. He came out and said "Nice to be back at the Fox." Maybe I just dont get the meaning?

Unreal night after the rain. Loved every minute of every song. Bartender was magical. The clouds clearing, the sun going down behind the stage, my oh my. What You Are, Watchtower, Recently and Ants Two Step to close were all very good. Loved the venue! And they recorded it!

Wyclef Jean was a great opener. But Boulder is so beautiful and made tonight twice as good. The t-storms stopped nobody tonight from groovin'. The set was a fun mix. They obviosly were taping this show. Encore was great and the show seemed like it went on forever.

The trip was memorable because I drove from KC with my brothers and a good friend. Had a blast, eventful with the rain but got much better seats than we would have without the downpour moving many for shelter. As far as the show went, not my favorite for DMB.

There was a lot of hype leading up to this show, I had heard rumors that DMB was going to make a DVD out of it... And sure enough! I'm a CO native and can't stand boulder but I had to suck it up to see this show - and what a show it was, the guys played for soooo long. Wyclef was a fun opener in the rain, lotsa rain. It calmed down until the "beautiful ladies" brought the rain back towards the end of Angel. Loved the start with DDTW and JTR. Bartender was another highlight along with Warehouse & Watchtower - great encore too, man I love Two Step. My seats were awesome for this show, great memories!

This show was incredible! We traveled from Flagstaff and drove up through CO for this so the entire week was an incredible experience. I remember Wyclef opened did a freestyle in either Chinese or Japanese. It was a trip. What I remember most what the show ending with Two Step into Ants Marching. That was a two punch combo that was hard to beat.

I originally posted this on nancies.org on July 12, 2001. No edits have been made... this is what I said then and I stand by it. (If you are actually reading this.)

The Dave Matthews Band is a band full of important numbers. Take for instance 41. Immediately, that means something. Or 36. But tonight, the only number that means anything is 21 - the number of songs DMB played in front of a packed Folsom Field in Boulder, CO. To get to 21 songs, you have to assume the band didn't "jam" as long as they have on past tours. That would be true. But that's not to say there weren't jams. Bartender jammed. Watchtower jammed. Angel tried to jam. And there will be those who say, "That was too radio friendly' or "they didn't play any old stuff." And those people, too may be right. But what was most right was that everybody left smiling - including the band, who seemed more than happy to record another video in our presence. (There was the "What Would You Say" video that was recorded at the Fox, and then the Live at Red Rocks. Now it appears at least part of the new DMB DVD will be from Boulder.) Or. maybe Dave put it best tonight. "We're from Virginia. We're a Virginia band. We played in Virginia and Virginia and Virginia. but there was one other city we could play in and have people come to - BOULDER. 21 songs. Most of the new album. Four Lillywhites. I'll save you the long descriptions. The jams on "So Right" place the song on a level with great DMB songs like Warehouse, which was also conveniently played. The Space Between is far better than Crash ever was. And what is it about Fish Monkey Man that moves the crowd so? And just when you thought DMB had forgotten their old stuff, out comes "Recently" with the 'some people do' that made the Red Rocks show so memorable years ago. This is clearly a live band that is yet to peak. Phish burned out and faded away. DMB isn't close to that point. It rained tonight. The band didn't shy away from that either. There was the "rain down on me" chorus in JTR, the rain references in Stay, in Space Between. All made for good audience screams - which makes for good video as well.. With sweat pouring down his face , humble Dave thanked the Boulder crowd one more time, and mosied off the stage. He has another venue to play this weekend. But even he knew there was something special about this night. It wasn't Mile High Stadium (which was busy with NSYNC), or Red Rocks, or either the Fox or Boulder theater. But it was intimate for a stadium show none the less. And maybe DMB has Wyclef Jean to thank for warming up the crowd - particularly as the cold Rocky Mountain thundershower rolled through. With all this thanks, there's only one group that really deserves it. DMB. We need to thank them for upholding the tradition they've carried on since 1992 here in Colorado.

Boulder's summers have an interesting weather pattern: at about 3 or 4 in the afternoon, clouds roll in from nowhere, and rain their asses of, before disappearing as quickly as they came, and leaving a wet, hot summer evening. During the opening band (Wyclef Jean!), the rain began, but for some reason, didn't really end until halfway through the show. This wasn't unpleasent, though, if you gave in to the cold water hitting you all over--it made the evening more... cinematic. Wyclef flowed about the rain, which everyone loved, and about Dave Matthews Band, which was just cool. Beginning the night with DDTW was really cool, and the audience cheered everytime rain was mentioned in any song (it seems to be a Dave Matthews motif), so JTR pleased us, too. (As did TSB, and Stay.) This was the first time I'd heard any Everyday songs in concert (having been pretty dissapointed by the album), but they proved their skill, talent, and radness by playing them all really well. The BEF to Bartender thing was such a heart fuck, I couldn't stop cheering, I was soooo impressed. And the Everyday/#36 thing made me so happy. They really are an incredible band, working so hard to make each tour as good as it can be. Angel was really cool, The Lovely Ladies made it perfect, introducing each member of the band, calling them all angels--that was really classy. The Recently into DAD riff was brilliant, I wish this would be done more often; it seeemed they wre trying their best to mend new songs into old songs to prove that they're the same old awesome band, even if they did this weird new album. I was appreciative. I left feeling that the concert I had just been to was really really amazing, and I was glad to share it with my girlfriend (Awww!).

Despite some fun songs (JTR, BEF>Bartender) the first half of this show was entirely forgettable. Many in the crowd were bummed that the rain had stopped before the band came out. Then, suddenly, they break out Warehouse and it was like the old day all over again. What a great end to this show with Recently, WWYS, Watchtower and the encore of 2 Step > Ants. Made it all worth it. It was fun to be in Boulder.

Ok....It's extremely hard to enjoy a show when you have people talking during songs they don't know....and being so drunk off your ass that you're bothering everyone around you! This "bothering" actually turned into a yelling match, and "the good" people had to leave. This so did rock though....amazing set list. Even if DMB did get fined because of Boulder's "noise ordinance"......I at least now have a show that I've been to coming out on DVD and CD :-) AMAZING BARTENDER and I LOVE JTR!!! (Too bad it's not on BS)!!

Tons of fun! Such a great show that they made a video of it! Traffic to get there was the worst ever. Missed the opening act and "Don't Drink..." just trying to get there. One good thing about being late is that I didn't get wet when the rain shower came through during the opener.

AMAZING! a wonderful set for my first show. Needless to say i was amazed by all of the altering of perception that goes on at DMB shows and in Boulder. College kids are funny, but i will soon be entering that realm. A lot of people don't like how he played a lot of EVERYDAY songs in the set but i thought that they were a nice addition albeit a less entertaining one than it was when he played the ever popular LWS. JTR and BARTENDER were the best songs in the main set.. TWO STEP was wonderfully done. woot.

Wyclef stole the show! Sorry everyone but he has such high energy and Dave played a cheesy set. Clef came out in the rain saying "I was in the back smoking with the Dave Matthews Band..." then put on a red Fender Strat and played No Woman, No Cry. When he played Perfect Gentlemen I had a group of Sorority Girls stripping behind me in the rain... Thanks Clef, they were hot!!!
