PATHETIC! I have been to over 20 shows and this was by far the worst. No energy whatsoever, and the encore even stunk. The only songs that made this concert even worth seeing were LIOG, OSW, Rapunzel, Stay, and Granny. The new Too Much was good but definitely not closer worthy. Pennywhistle outro to bartender was pleasant, Billies was dead which is unfortunate cause I love the song. WWYS got me hooked on their sound so many years ago and it had no energy at all. Hello Again was nice, but most people didn't know it so everyone talked through it, and that made it hard to enjoy. Side note: I told my friend a week before the show that they'd open with Grey Street, but we didn't get the whole thing :( All in all, the most pathetic effort I've ever seen from the guys, and what's worse is I can't go to the Woodlands this year to give them a chance to redeem themselves. How depressing...

Storm rolled across right before the show... eerie and magical.. awesome venue in a field... luckily had "seat" seats... actually first and only show I've been to that I did'nt buy lawn... unless it was indoors.. really beautiful show... though I don't remember getting much out of Boyd.. or chatter-Dave.

rapunzel was hilarious - way worth it to be there - I went to the bathroom during crazy-easy, then HAPPILY returned for the joyous start to Lie in Our Graves! I don't know who those two ladies dancing next to me were, but hoo-hah!! That's all I have to say.

I think I was really depressed for this show because I sat FIRST ROW in '93, even though it was the first time me and my girl saw DMB together (since we have been together 4 years). I remember being a bit trashed on the lawn and waiting for rain that never came...or did it? This was maybe the worst DMB show for me, but it was only because of the previuos year and the amazing seats i had. Still Great times though!!!

Awesome show, great energy, was pleasantly surprised by all of the new songs, as I have not downloaded them yet because I wanted to hear them live first. This was my second show and it was much better than the first (Pepsi Center in Denver, last year), and I look forward to seeing many more.

In short: disappointment. After three years of not being able to catch them live when they strolled through Texas, this was the show I was waiting for. This was something I looked forward to for months, just like every other DMB show, maybe moreso because of the time between experiencing them live. I had high hopes for this show, ordering tickets four months prior, finally getting reserved seats for the first time in seven years, driving in from Austin after a full day's work which began at 4:00am, and having the weather hold out. Unfortunately, the ultimate outcome was boredom. The last time I caught them it was at Verizon Wireless in Selma on 07.17.01; that show was heavy-handed with new material from Everyday, the album that I'd like to forget as a fan, but was made up for with pre-Busted Stuff era "Lillywhite Session" material. That show was decent, but still not to par for the band. After that show and this one, I'm swearing off seeing them live in San Antonio, perhaps all-together. Maybe it's because San Antonio is home to radio-conglomerate Clear Channel, who also happens to own the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Retama Park in Selma, that DMB ends up playing more of the recent radio hits, like "I DId It," "Where Are You Going," and "When The World Ends," all of which the old fans couldn't care less about, in my opinion. After being lucky enough to attend stellar shows in Atlanta on 06.19.97 and 09.10.00 and Houston's 08.14.98, this one clearly lacked any and all enthusiasm and energy as a whole from both the band and the audience. The set didn't offer any rarities or continuous jams; it was very cut-and-dry, stop-and-start. It seemed very much like this show was just another stop on the tour that had to be played, rather than wanted to be played. For the band's part, Boyd was terrific; he was solid all night. For the crowd's part, they stuck it out all night. I've never seen so many uninterested fans at a DMB show before, let alone so many sitting. Granted, a song would come around that might get the crowd back into it, such as "What Would You Say" or "Rapunzel," but it would quickly be followed with a lul and pause before the next song, which would either be new and unknown or a total downer, such as "I Did It." I'm very thankful that there were no political speeches. When I go to a concert, I go to enjoy the music and to leave all of my concerns and worries at the door. I have the ability to separate the band and their music from the people in the band and their personal beliefs. I wish more bands had the ability to do the same for their fans, especially since we're the ones going to the trouble and the expense of coming to see them. My overall vote on this show is that it isn't even worth downloading; some good songs here and there, but nothing that would make them stand-out performances. I would suggest you find a copy of the 09.10.00 show; that's my definition of a great, recent-history DMB show.

Good show but not as magical as the 1st time I saw him in 98 in Austin. This venue has great sound for all the bands I have seen here and Dave was no exception. I miss the songs of yesteryear (Crash era)and wish I had seen him more from that time frame. Oh well life goes on.

I've read some of the reviews of the show here. I can't agree with those who say the show was terrible and the boys had no energy. I must say that it was the most together that I'd ever seen the band they had tons of energy and they were one. The new songs were super! Sugar Will being my favorite. I try not to hope for songs. I was hoping for Billies and I wasn't disappointed. LIOG and Bartender were nice surprises.

An amazing show, as always, by the boys. I wasn't too thrilled that they seemed to focus on post-BTCS songs, but it was kind of interesting in a way to see how a concert like that sounded. So here we go - "Grey Street": thought for a minute they would play all three verses, but it was still truncated. Good opener though. "Fool To Think": first time to hear it live, and it sounds much better on the acoustic in my opinion. "Joy Ride": Dave really has no idea what he wants to say other than the chorus. The rest of the lyrics were comepletely unintelligible. "WWYS": average. "Sugar Will": definitely an energy killer. I found myself wishing they would jest skip to the jam at the end, cause that is cool. "WAYG": The tinyest Loving Wings tease had me going, but no unfortunately. "WTWE": Average. "PNP»Rapunzel": My favorite song, so I'm always glad to hear it. Dave did fuck up the first verse though. But an absolutely fantastic jam at the end. "Crazy Easy": Thought we would get a quite one after Rapunzel, so this was a surprise. The lyrics are really coming along now. "LIOG": I was praying on the way to the show that they would play Seek Up and LIOG, since I've never seen either. This song made my night. Special note: Boyd was in tune for the entire song... and for that matter, the entire concert. "Hello Again": My favorite of the new songs. Dave broke a string though and that sent his guitar a little out of tune, but he replaced it during Carter's drum solo. "I Did It": Again I was thinking quiet song, so I called Space Between, so this was another pleasant surprise. Just wish it had been So Right. "Bartender": Yet another amazing solo by Butch. "Billies": Thought this would end the show. Absolutely amazing energy. So I was very surprised to hear... "One Sweet World": I do with they would go back to the old intro for this tune. "Stay": We had it coming. Great energy. ENCORE "Granny": Average. "Too Much": I think that this song is this year's Jimi Thing. It's just been taken to a new level. Roi's solo in the middle is completely different and the new jam at the end is amazing. I loved the crowd reaction when they realized the Dave Chapell scatting. All in all, a great show. Can't wait for the Woodlands.

One of the best shows I have seen the band play. Although I am never to thrilled to hear Help Myself and I did it, but that didn't even matter cause the rest of the show rocked. Also I absolutly love this venue, I am from the Dallas/Ft Worth area and this blows the Starplex amphitheater(Dallas) out of the water. The drive to SA was made all worth the while with a bad ass versions of Bartender, PNP/Rapunzul, LIOG, and Stay. Plus I really liked Joyride and Crazy-Easy. Granny was a nice change for the Encore, even as many times as I have heard Too Much it seemed that their was a lot more energy than previous shows.

From what I hear this show lacked the enthusiasm and spark of the old dmb shows, but it was my first concert, and I must say, in my eyes it was nothing short of awesome. I loved it all..and i think i turned my brother into a major fan..(it was his 1st DMB show as well)..cool show from my point of view..

Mediocre. Seemed like all the band members were in a funk and didn't play with as much heart as I know they can. The setlist was blah and they only played one song from Under the Table and Dreaming...an album which a lot of people consider their best. I wasn't upset by this, but I was shocked that they didn't play "Crash". I betcha a good number of the quasi DMB fans there only went because they know/like that song and were greatly disappointed. Just struck me as weird. I enjoyed the show, but it didn't do them justice.

Drove 6.5 hours for this show -- since Dallas is being skipped. Very solid outting, very consistent. New songs (Sugar Will) seemed to drag. There were a couple spots where the boys seemed to be looking around to see who was gonna pick up the lead. Otherwise, no complaints. Somebody said Boyd wasn't out of tune all night; I wish I could say that about the three "dedicated" fans behind me. Oh well, that's part of the fun, ain't it? Can't wait for next year.
