What a great way to start the weekend! This was my fourth show at the Gorge. Hearing Seek Up was a thrill. That was the one song I'd been dying to hear live. Bayou was off the hook! And don't forget Smooth Rider; hearing it live changed my previous opinion about that song. The Jimi jam was sick, as was ASTB. There were a few times the band wasn't quite together (ie Stolen Away), but overall it rocked!!!

I've been reading reviews of shows throughout this whole tour and was more than ready to see/hear the new material live. It really is good. This was show # 7 for me (4 for my wife) and I thought it was pretty good. We drove from B.C. all day and made it just in time to find some lawn seats for decent prices. Biggest let down was missing NMA. We came over the hill to see the stage just as DMB took the stage and eased into OSW. I will always be a fan of the old school and rarer tunes and anything that gets a thick coat of JAM, so I was pumped to hear Seek up and Jimi Thing, SMTS>ASTB>Too Much. (Am I nuts to think that Kit Kat Jam would fit awesome between ASTB and Too Much?) I wont complain but of course I have to be honest - they didnt seem as excited during this show as I have read they were at other shows. Fonzie was groovin up a storm and Boyd was his usual flailing self but Dave didn't get the lead out of his boots until very late in the show. Butch was at his most dissonant in the end of Seek Up but that jam was still great. Cant wait to get a copy of this show so I can listen without all the TALKING DURING THE GOOD STUFF!!!!!!

Fantastic show. Seek up and Jimi Thing in the same set?!! AMAZING! Bayou was awesome as always but the most impressive and memorable part of the show was the improvement of Smooth Rider. I was blown away with the energy it had at the end and Dave's crazy guitar riffs. Great show all around.

My first show ever at The Gorge and my family and I had an excellent time sitting way up on the lawn. The sound was OK from there but the breeze felt nice and there was plenty of room to relax and dance. My first live 'Seek Up' (over 22 minutes) was outstanding! All of the songs from Stand Up were great to hear in person for the first time also.
It was also a pleasure to meet and hang out with all the fellow Ants at Wildhorse for the weekend.

Incredible American Baby Intro!! I've never heard Dave scream like that - I was afraid he'd blow his voice over the three nights because of stuff like this!! It was THAT good! The Bayou jam was very welcomed, too!

Absolutly amazing. The 23 minute Seek up kicked ass and the Jimi thing was probably the best song of the entire three days. The energy was insane, you could tell that the whole band was into the crowd and just happy to be playing at the gorge.

The show started off pretty slow, but picked up pretty quick. I had to drive for 3 days to get to the show but it was worth it. Although, driving 27 hours to hear 'Where are You Going' was a little disheartening. Also, the speaker for the middle section of the lawn didn't work until the end of the show, that was a bummer.

The one thing that sticks out to me about this night was the walking over the hill into the venue and then looking down for the first time and seeing the stage and the back drop, FREAKING UNBELIEVABLE!
Good start to a three day stint! Loved the Seek Up and I'm a big fan of Dream Girl so that was a plus. Great start to my weekend!!!!!

My 51st show, 7th this tour. I got exactly what I expected on the 1st of 3 nights at the Gorge. A slightly mellow set with room to ramp up the energy level over the next 2 days. I love OSW as opener ("Let us sleep outside tonight, lay down in our mother's arms"), especially at the Gorge, and any set with "Seek Up" is a winner IMO. The versions of "The Stone," "JT," "Too Much," and "Tripping Billies" were outstanding. "American Baby Intro" blew my mind. I've seen "LB" with Robert Randolph a couple of times, so, although it's a great song, RR makes it soar.

Twenty-two (22) minute "Seek Up" -- with nearly a 10 minute outro showcasing Boyd and Butch... 'nuff said.
This show started out 180 degrees different from last year's first Gorge night which was mellow. This show was off the hook the entire night -- I personally rank it the 2nd best DMB I've been too (the best being Portland Meadows 1997).
Fabulous, fabulous show.
Before the show Dave could be seen by binoculars in the backstage lawn area playing with his twins, letting them climb up him and somersaulting off him.

I came all the way from Illinois just to see DMB at the Gorge. I did stay over for a three night Bellagio stint in Vegas first though....so you can imagine it was the best week of my entire life. Finally got to hear DDTW which was the highlight of evening for me. A great Seek Up and the best Jimi Thing scat I have ever heard. AB Intro was beautiful and HFTGL is amazing live, as is LB. Amazing first night show!!

This shit was amazing. Seek Up was like 22 minutes long (I timed it) and Jimi was like 20. Bayou was absolutley nuts. I love OSW as an opener, The Stone was so suprising, I thought that'd be for tomorrow, I fucking loved it! DDTW rocked the fuck out, Smooth Rider and Billies encore kicked ass. Smooth Rider has so much energy and intensity at the end, definitley one of my fav new songs. My favorite part of the night was easily either Seek Up, or SMTS >> ATSB >> Too Much. Holy shit I'd never seen ASTB live. It is nuts. All in all, this show was absolutley nuts. You could tell all the boyd were having a blast too. Oh man I can't wait for tonight now.

My favorite DMB concert ever! The venue is really cool with a great view of the Gorge in the Columbia River Valley. It was really cool camping overnight at the venue since it didn't matter how much we drank at the concert (not that we drank too much at $8 a beer or whatever it was). My only regret is not going to all three shows!

Night 1 was a great beginning to this outstanding weekend. I must say, this place is absolutely the most beautiful place I have ever seen. After a very nice, scenic drive up from Portland, viewing mountains after mountains, including Mount Hood and Mount Adams. I was completely blown away. I thought after seeing all that it would make the view of the Gorge not as good. Well I was totally wrong, the minute I walked into the place and saw it, I was deeply amazed. I never knew how steep the drop off was on that cliff the stage sits at the very end of, it's like a 1,500 foot drop. Now the show: highlites include a mind-blowing One Sweet World at Sunset, very beautiful opening song for a very beautiful place. Then, as the night set in and the huge, full moon appeared, Seek Up started up. This was deffinately the best played song of the night, The only version I've heard better than this one was at the historic 9/11/03 Hershey park show, when they opened with it. DDTW, JimiThing, SMTS>ASTB>Too Much were awesome, and Tripping Billies was a great encore closer. That was night 1, still 2 more to go.

After seeing dmb in Tampa ( I live in Orlando) I wanted to see them in a more "special" atmoshpere. I got the Gorge CD and once I saw the extra features and the documentary, I said to my other dave head friend, "we are going there" Sure enough a few months later we were campin out at the Gorge! The American Baby Intro was very cool in this show. Probably the best I've seen
