Great energy for one of my least favorite venues. Smooth setlist with Bela's banjo being a highlight on Jimi and Victor's solo. I am lovin Bayou and Steady as we go. Overall a another high end go around.

Wow this place is really differnt once you get up close. We had way better seats tonight and it made a vary big differance! The set was not as good as night 1's, but it was still a fantastic show! I like Sleep To Dream Her so ill say that was a hight light haha but other than that, Lie In Our Graves with Bela was amazing (even though some guy started to puke behind us right at Bela's solo began), Last Stop was great, Break Free was very good as well, and of course Jimi Thing stole the show with all of the Flecktones on it. Also Cater's Drum solo before Say Goodbye was out of control, he really is the best dummer in the world. Good times!

Nice setlist, many of the good ol' ones and nice guest appearances. The only drawback in my opinion was the huge break between each song. The whole momentum was gone between songs.

The show was pretty disappointing. The songs with Bela and the band were great but the setlist overall was very very slow.
There was only 1 song from Stand Up, opening with Everyday was ehh, ASTB at least made it a little better, but nothing special. 5/10
The venue was ok to be there once but I would not recommend it again.
It seemed like the band was having fun but not the same energy as other shows. Night one seemed much better.

This was show #29 for me and it is easy to say that it ranks as my #1. I never go away disappointed from a DMB show, but tonight's was absolutely amazing! It was heaven! The setlist was perfect, the energy of the band and the crowd was wonderful, and having the Flecktones on stage both nights was a memory of a lifetime for me! Plus, the weather was AMAZING!

You must be the dumbest person in the country. Other than your comments about the dust bowl and the island as a venue, your comment sounds like it was written by a retarted person that only knows DMB by the songs released on the radio. In addition it sounds like you didnt have enough friends at the show, enough alcohol, and you didnt smoke enough. In addition, only an idiot would call the city that dave himself called "the greatest city in the world" the worst city. Clearly from boston or a bush supporter.
Both nights were extremely enjoyable. A dvd or cd would be sick with epic jams on so many different fan favorites like 41 and LIOG. Cortez was insane. Energy was high and the band was pumped.

i was very lucky and was able to sit with some friends in an extra seat in vip with them. we didn't get badges, just some extra tickets that someone had since they had won tickets in 103, so i was saved from the siberia that was the second to last row of 604.
what a gorgeous day for a concert! it was pretty hot in the sun, but not anywhere NEAR as bad as the past week had been. it was a welcome relief. it wasn't even as dirty as last year. although they only had 4 little sink/soap thingies by the reserved bathrooms, maybe a quarter of what they had last year, so that was annoying. but yeah, i had a great time hanging out for the whole afternoon. caught almost all of the side stage's acts, signed up to vote in nyc, entered some contests and got a drink 'coozy'. whooo hooo!
the 'tones' set was great, again. good to see them live again, i hadn't seen them in a couple years. but david gray was just FANTASTIC. i have been getting into him much more recently (life in slow motion is really great) and i was really excited for his set. solo shine to start was great (after a very silly and funny intro by dave), david's voice really sounded fantastic. i go to hear pretty much every song i really wanted to hear (please forgive me, shine, lately (!!! so good, people were way into this), the one i love (obsessed with that song lately), sail away, babylon) and they all put on a great show. it reminded me how spoiled we as dmb fans are, cause we have shows ALL the time (on the east coast especially) and david gray tours like every 2-3 years tops nowadays. so yeah, that was fantastic. great performance.
onto DMB! everyday was kind of 'eh'... the openers and encores of this weekend were lacking. okay, more later!

Another excellent show. Everyday was kind of a disappointment as the opener (I was hoping for Seek Up) as they opened with Everyday last year at 2nd Randall's. The tempo really picked up with Rapunzel on the second song though . Carter's extended intro
to Say Goodbye was killer. When I saw Dave drop his pick to start fingerpicking I knew we were in for something rare, and I was thrilled to hear Sleep to Dream Her live for the first time. Break Free is a great song, especially the outro. Lie in Our Graves with Bela was sweet. The Last Stop was so good to hear (why didn't Bela stay on for this one?) and they really rocked it.
I don't know why they don't play it more, Dave clearly likes the song and was totally pumped afterwards. Jimi Thing with the Flecktones was really cool. Coffin stepped up with another great
sax solo. Victor Wooten's bass solo was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. That guy is a monster on the bass. He was throwing in a lot of two handed tapping and slapping and it all sounded so good. Steady as We Go was an odd choice for E1, but was gorgeous, the best version I have heard. I told my girlfiend that they were going to close with Billies (I had a strong feeling) and we got it.
I think that they were premature in announcing the next Live Trax as the Fenway shows, these two at Randall's (with Warren and The Flecktones) had a lot more to offer.

Section 403, Row V, Seat 14.
I go to experience the performance of the band as a whole, rather than just Dave. I felt badly that his voice was shot, but I had a phenomenal time last night, because the energy was high and I heard some of the best instrumentals I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing at a DMB concert.
The sight of Boyd bouncing around the stage in his yellow shirt and grinning like the Cheshire cat throughout the show is only one of many points throughout the evening where I was thoroughly impressed with these guys as talented musicians. LIOG was off the hook, and the solo with Bela was just amazing. Jimi Thing was REE-diculous! This is the best instrumental of this song that I’ve ever heard. The whole scat thing was sick, like when I was at the Meadows on 17Jul04, and - WOAH! Butch sings, too? The bass player from the Flecktones was unbelievable, and their sax player blew my mind . The dude in the pirate’s hat - with the crazy-lookin’ instrument that could throw out funk from a multitude of colourful buttons – was just insane. And the random horn solo from “I Dream of Jeanie” was the icing on the cake. This night ranks in the Top Five DMB concerts that I’ve ever seen.
EDIT, 07Aug09 - Such a memorable day. Parked in the Village, took the subway up to 125th, and walked across the bridge onto the island. Beautifully sunny afternoon.
Although I went there alone, Sleep To Dream Her had really touched me and was a pleasant surprise - the solo at the end was lovely. : )
RIP LeRoi.

singleh88.. you're an absolute idiot man.. i've seen 16 shows, and i'm still a better fan than you'll ever be. you go to concerts and complain about what song is played. you bitch when crash is played. you talk about how many songs suck and how it ruined your night. if you were a real fan like you claim to be, you'd enjoy every song played for what it is, and just have fun with good music. you'd realize that they need to play a slow song now and then because dave's hands and carter's hands can't take that much beating. and that his voice can't either. i'd rather be sitting with the 18 year olds who cheer for crash, which was an absolutely AMAZING song this concert, than you who would complain and be a buzz kill for eveyr single person around you. you're pathetic
overall.. this was my 15th concert, and one of the best i've ever seen. with the energy, and the greatest versions of nancies-->warehouse possibly ever played, i think it tops central park for me. absolutely amazing. NY Post review can go to hell. they know nothing about music.

I would have been happy with just that but there was also Last Stop, Jimi Thing with the flecktones, a great Crush, and Carter's great drum solo on Say Goodbye. You could tell that they were anxious to get the encore done and get to partying with everyone which they should do after such a great day.

Still, You know when you've seen an amazing DMB show when afterwards you can't really remember the highlights because 90 percent of the show just killed and was one big highlight. But if I have to point out something it would be Jimmy thing with the "stop now, what's that sound.." at the end. Crowd was amazing also.

Very good show.... the only complaint I could have would be the childish way that many high school-aged fans at the show were acting. On the way in and out of the show, I saw several kids trying to rip down the banners along the fences and knocking over garbage cans. I know that it was a small minority of people that were doing it... but come on, grow up.

not as good as night 1, however a very very solid setlist, and its always a pleasure to see the boys jam with bela! lie in our graves was out of control, but the highlight for me was sleep to dream her! love roys sax part at the end. was a little suprised at the encore, steady as we go is a fucking crowd killer, it did alow most of the fans to head for the early busses to avoid hours of standing in line. I talked to the sound guys hoping it was played due to daves deterorating voice however they assured me the set was played to the list. I know we cant get AB intro>two step every night, but god that would have sealed the deal for this set!

A great night at Randall's Island. Everyday was an excellent intro. Say Goodbye had the best drum intro I've ever heard. Carter was sick with it! LeRoi had a nice flute solo as well. So Much to Say>Anyone Seen The Bridg> Too Much was very fast-paced, loved it! Sleep to Dream Her set a very nice, chill mood midway through the show. Then The Flecktones came back out and they were awesome on Jimithing. Bela and Victor were tearing it up. It's so great to see them back playing with The Dave Matthews Band. The song of the night was without a doubt, THE LAST STOP! I have been waiting for it, for 32 shows and finally I got it on my 33rd. The song was everything I thought it would be live, and more. It sounded very polished, and the tempo was excellent. LeRoi and Rashawn add a nice touch to the song. Tripping Billies was a grea closer, and a nice end to a great weekend on the Island. I will see everyone at the Last Stop in Charlottesville. I am very excited.

User: Egugg. Are you serious dude? I've seen DMB 24 times (7 in NYC) so I think I know what I'm talkin about. Ever been to Alpine? Oh no? I've been 4 times. Thats a venue. What I have to like NYC because Dave does? Should I be a bisexual like him too? If you like the 2 songs I mentioned, than you're an obvious Dave apologist because THEY SUCK. You prolly cheer with the teeny-boppers when Crash is played too. I criticize because I am NOT one of those who likes the radio songs. I like the jam songs that most 18 year old toolboxes like you seem to ignore when played. See some more shows pal then talk to me. BTW: I'm from NJ and you're damn right I'm a Bush supporter. "Pretty great show from 'Break Free' on. Hey Dave, theres no reason to play 'Sleep to Dream Her' for 9 minutes. Just terrible. Also, 'Steady As We Go' may be the worst song ever. By the way, Randall's Island has to be the worst venue on the tour. Its hard to get to, hard to get out of, and so dusty youre blowing out black boogers for 2 days after. Fitting though since its right smack in the middle of the worst city in the U.S."

Another great performance by the band, although it couldn't surpass saturday's show. Everyday is not one of my favorite openers, but it seemed that the crowd was really into it right from the beginning, with every one singing and swaying to the "honey, honey" part. PNP-->Rapunzel and SMTS-->ASTB-->Too Much were also great as always. Break Free was my favorite out of all the new songs that Dave has debuted on this tour, and hearing it live only made me like it more - great song, great lyrics, and awesome jam at the end esp. Leroi and Rashawn Ross.
The real highlights of the show were LIOG and Jimmi Thing. They are always two of the best songs to hear live but were even better tonight with the addition of Bela and the Flecktones. Bela was amazing on banjo and the jamming and lyrics from the band really seemed tight. Not as good as the epic version #41 from night one, but then again, very few things are. Bayou and Billies were great, high energy songs to end the weekend on and sounded great despite Dave claiming to have a soar throat.
All in all, an amazing weekend of music from the band. WAY better than the two night stand at Fenway Park that they are releasing for their next CD.

Real good show overall ... only downers of the night (for me) were When the World Ends (just an okay song), Sleep To Dream Her (b/c it was 5 minutes too long ... i realize they were changing guitars on Dave but i would have almost rather had dead air) and Can't Stop (don't understand the need to play this both nights of a 2 night stand ... the only song repeated at both Fenway and Randalls) ... Break Free is the best new song by far ... LIOG w/ Bela was sweet ... Last Stop is awesome ... Crush was great as well ... would have been nice looking at the setlist scan if they scrapped Cant Stop and Steady and played Seek Up w/ The Flecktones ... if that were to happen it would have been possibly the sickest ending to a set in awhile if not ever w/ the Jimi and Bayou ... maybe its just me but it seems like the encores don't matter much lately ... Steady and Billies seem average compared to the main set ... and don't get me started on Stay ... i loathe this song and they seem to end way too many shows with it ... and just as an aside to address some of the reviews i've seen ... Randall's is one of the poorer venues i've been to ... i wish NYC had somewhere else to have a decent outdoor show ... also there is no possible way you could like every DMB song that is played ... i've been going to their shows (50 now since 1996) for a decent amount of time, and the way i see it, if i can get through a show w/ 3 or fewer songs i don't like, it's a great show ... both nights here managed to do that so it was a cool weekend

What can I say...One of the band's best nights in history. This is a top 20, maybe top 10 show in their career. They certainly know how to entertain. This was one performance where you'd have to have been there to truly appreciate it as there was as much to see as to hear. This was my 48th show. Wow.
Kicked off with a very predictable Everyday opener and very little crowde response, however Dave sang nealy all the lyrics to #36 in this version, which really pumped the crowd which carried the band through the outro. Onto the most energetic Rapunzel I've ever seen, followed by Say Goodbye which was beautiful as usual, and with the longest Carter intro on record! When the World Ends was short and sweet, leading into a typical but very high energy SMTS..>ASTB..>TM. Sleep to Dream Her was well deserved break after the high energy hour plus run. Out of the STDH, Break Free slowly picked the tempo back up again, Dave is really getting the hang of this one. From here the show goes to another level...first, Lie In Our Graves w/ Bela. Need I say more? Followed by THE LAST STOP...my goal is concured. I would have liked Bela to stay out for Last Stop as he adds an amazing touch. Can't Stop is progressing nicely...smooth and sexy, crowd really liked it...>leading into Crush which is just a solid solid DMB classic. Then came Jimi Thing w/ Bela, Vic Wooten, Jeff Coffin & Futureman, all the Flecktones. The single best Jimi thing since Central Park and possibly the best ever played, completely off the hook. (Seek Up was supposed to be played here in the set but i had to nixed due to time) Louisiana Bayou, first SU song of the night, and it rocked thorougly to end the set. Quick encore break as they had already gone WAY late and surprised EVERYONE with the Steady As We Go E1. Everyone was calling ABI..>Two Step, but we were treated to something much more touching. Steady was beautiful, then right into the always fantastic Tripping Billies. 3 hour set that will remain in my mind for a long time.

Although this was only my 5th show, I believe that this one will be hard to top. love RAPUNZEL at the beginning, Carter's nasty drum solo, LIE IN OUR GRAVES with the lightning fingers of Bela Fleck, a thunderous LAST STOP, my first CRUSH, and all the Flecktones on a crazy JIMI THING. Victor Wooten is the fuckin man, and Futureman on the "drumitar" is just out there. BAYOU and BILLIES were high energy closers for a high energy evening. Wish I could have been to night 1 to hear Cortez, #41 and Ants, but oh well.

Same deal as last night. Solid beginning, got special when Bela came out for LIOG, and was awesome from there on in. Great weekend. Both nights were about equal.

at times as intense as the Sat show. Not the set list I would have picked, but tight as usual. Odd that Bela didn't stay on for Last Stop.
