AMAZING show, holy shit. Ive always wanted to see Dave & Tim play for a whole concert, seeing it that the 1999 Storytellers with D&T is what made me the huge fan i am today. I saw the Dave and Friends, but this was just unbeleivable. Dave's voice was DEAD ON and they played an amazing set including my long-awaited "The Maker." Daves stories were fuckin hilarious as usual when hes solo. Quote of the night: "....well, this is a song all about elephants." (Plays Crash)

Bartender: This was on par with the 03' versions. What I was mainly looking for was how the falsetto sounded. That would be my first glimpse of how his voice would sound for the night. After it though there was some funny Dave speak about pimples. He said he went into the bathroom to pop a pimple. Then he realized there was more and before he knew what happened it had become a war zone. Said he basically blew off his face.

Dodo: This is when I knew his voice was going to be good tonight. He sang this song without much trouble. Pretty kick ass D&T style. Dave speak wise he just told everyone to sit down. Even imitated a girl who was too afraid to sit down.

Lie in Our Graves: I love this song D&T style, and it was great. One thing that did suck though and became obvious through out the night... THE CROWD!!! Very disrespectful, and wouldn't listen to Dave. It was after this song or Dodo that he mentioned they'd been opening up for the Stones. How the first time he opened up for them was in Holland. It was one day before they did open up for them he was sitting in his tub. Ashley came into the bathroom and said "Mick Jagger is on the phone." and so of course he took the call. He also mentioned he's talked to Bono in the tub as well. He said if you ever get a hold of him he's most likely in the tub. Mick Jagger told him he'd be singing on the song Memory Motel. Dave said he knew the song but not well. He said his cousin had the album Black & Blue and that's how he's heard it before. Mick told him it be ok because there'd be a teleprompter. Well when it came time to do the song he said "I could see Mick's telepromter was scrolling along out of my peripheal (sp?) vision. While his just said "Memory Motel" and he was like "I KNOW WHAT SONG IT IS! I NEED TO KNOW THE WORDS!" and he thought that just maybe his words would pop up when it was his turn to sing. Well of course they didn't. So Dave said he just made the words up. For three verses he made the words up and he said they weren't even really words. (He started making examples of these words and it sounded like gibberish in Dutch). The next day he talked to Mick and Mick said something like "What the fuck was that?" and he said he knew Mick was a good man because he gave him 3 more shots at it. During this story Dave had to shut the crowd up a few times. Even said if they didn't let him tell the story he'd bore them to death by making it even longer.

Stay or Leave: Pretty standard but I love this song. Dave's voice sounded great on it.

Jimi Thing: These ultra cool Dave fans who I loved so much were kind enough to talk through What Will Become of Me. I've waited a while to see that. That kind of sucked, but Jimi was great. I've seen it so many times it was kind of amazing to see it clock in under 10 minutes.

Old Dirt Hill: This song has steadily been getting really good. First time it showed signs of life was at Aladdin last year. Then at Farm Aid it was pretty decent. I can with confidence say that I've seen the best version ever of this song.

Gravedigger: Was a lot better then I expected it to be. I've always liked the song, but I really liked this version.

So Damn Lucky: Great song. Nothing that made it stick out, but I've never seen any Some Devil songs before so all of this was a treat. After the song Dave started talking about how dry his skin has been in the desert. He said he doesn't normally use things such as lotion, but since he's been here in the desert he's been putting it on his face. Using lip stuff and what not. Talked about all the lights make you forget you're actually in a desert. That he wonders how many people died in Las Vegas before it became what it is now. Talking about how all they needed was water.

Little Thing: When I heard the opening chords I couldn't believe it. Halloween would have surprised me less. I know he did it in England (after not touring for a while) but I didn't expect him to have the falsetto to do this. It was beautiful and I couldn't believe it. Unlike the one he did earlier this year in England which was basically "An Another Thing" this was a Little Thing. He started it off by saying "This is a thirsty man's story" and talked about him searching for water. It wasn't as long as lets say Luther College, but it was probably in the 4 minute range. Either way I was glad to see this.

Two Step: This was another song which makes you realize seeing a song D&T is like seeing it for the first time. Just a different feel to it then when it's with the band. Love the intro though with Tim. His solos just rock.

Down by the River:I know he did it with Neil at Bridge School, but I wasn't expecting it. Early in the show he actually talked about "Taking a page from Neil Young" where they would "Start off slow then sizzle out" or something like that. Anyways this was pretty good. Surprised to see people singing a long. This was not your normal Dave crowd.

[Unknown Tim solo]: Someone told me that part of this song was an interpolation of "I'm Your Captain" but he wasn't sure who sang it. He thought Jefferson Airplane. It was pretty good though. As with any Tim Reynolds solo song it just shows how amazing he was.

Some Devil: When Dave got the electric out I wasn't sure what to expect. My eyes are kind of bad, but it was either his tan baritone or a new one. It looked white though, but either way Dave nailed this song. He hit all the high notes, and what else can you ask for?

Satellite: Another song where you realize it's good when Dave's voice is good. Wish they had played Proudest Monkey before it. Always wanted to see D&T do that one in person.

The Maker: Not as good as the 03' versions, but I don't think there's ever been a bad version of this song.

Crush: The outro wasn't as long as the 03' versions, but played the same way. One reason the outro was shorter he didn't sing at all. I know on some dates anyway he did in 03'. I know the one on the Some Devil Bonus disc is one of them where he's just going "Oooooo uh AHHHHH Ooooo uh AHHHH!" ect. ect. still cool to see though. Oh and the crowd (which I noticed at other shows) never knows when to say YAAAAAAA It's crazy.... they did it at the wrong part of the 1st verse.

Tripping Billies: When Tim is playing those Billies will always be Tripping. Regardless fun song to see.

Smooth Rider: Tim really need to guest on this song with the band. I actually like it when the band does this song live. Dave always gets so into it, but Tim adds A LOT to it. I think this version easily tops the one done last year by them at Aladdin. After the song Dave talked about going to Shark Reef earlier today with his girls. He said it's fun but it scares him. Eventually everything will be in zoo's. One day someone will be talking to someone "Ya you see those elephants. They actually used to roam in the wild." (He mentioned another animal too but I forget) and then acted like a girl saying "OH MY GOD! THAT'S HORRIBLE! I'm so glad we got that under control!" and just went on to talk about how he doesn't like that.

Crash Into Me: Dave started off this song by saying "This is a song about elephants." and then went right into Crash. It had the dixie chicken outro. Before the "I'm the king of the castle" part Dave hit all the falsettos on the CRASHHHHH INTO ME!!! and then after the dixie chicken part he yelled it a couple times and then ended the song. Good to hear the falsettos on the song though. I personally miss them.

Typical Situation: The only reason I'm sitting here today typing this review it because of this song. Typical on Luther it what got me into the band and I was very very very happy to finally see them do this. As always Tim's solo was awesome in it.

Dancing Nancies: Not much of a story intro, but he kept repeating "Always trust those with power over you." then repeated something else a few times before just singing some high notes with his falsettos. Then after that went into "Could I have been?"

(Encore) -

Sister: Well in my previous 12 DMB shows I've seen Sister 5 times. Now I can say I've seen it 6. I'm still not sick of it though. It's not my favorite song by any means. Tim sounds good on it. Gives it a little flare.

Oh: Dave talked about his late grandfather before this song. Said he was from Africa and he was an inspiration to him. Said he wrote this song as a dedication to him about when he was still kickin' it.

When the World Ends: He started off this one by saying he didn't care if you liked this song or not because he was going to play it. I was actually upset because they didn't do the extended outro. I love the extended outro, but nope ended it on the cut off.

Save Me: Fun song to see live. Dave hit all the high notes at the end very well.

Ants Marching: Great way to end my first D&T show. Surprised they ended with Ants. Thought they would of done something that hard more punch like a Warehouse or Watchtower. Either way GREAT SHOW. The crowd SUCKED! They were annoying the entire show. I can't stress that enough. Dave commented though that he didn't know how big the arena was until he got there. He thought he'd be playing for a MUCH smaller group. He said he'd do his best to fill up the room. Anyways I know this is long, but I figured you all my be interested in the Dave speak. Otherwise it just be me "OH THIS IS GREAT I LOVE THIS SONG!" and it probably wouldn't do as much for you. So hope you liked this.

My third Dave and Tim experience was my favorite... not because of the quality of the venue or show, but because the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series and I got to spend hours at the blackjack table. The show itself was really good; I just didn't feel the whole Dave and Tim vibe because I could hear the racket on the floor from disengaged fans that carried up to the cheap seats. Plus, I still think it had the feel of "something special."
