great show. the set list wasn't too great, but they played really well together that night. it would have been an even better show if it wasn't for the noise ordnance, they had to stop playing at 11

The setlist was pretty predictable as my best friend and I picked out 10 of the 20 (or so) songs that were played, but Long Black Veil coming out in the Encore was an awesome surprise. I heard Bela Fleck was a possibility for the show but when he actually came out the place was up for grabs. It was a good show but even Dave's quote in the middle of the show saying something along the lines of "I hope you are all ready for Alpine" lets us know that Dave has something special in store that he's holding back on. Great set nonetheless..

Really fun show, WEAK ASS crowd. I think the median age was about 16! The hard core people IMO wait for Alpine.

Still, a really excellent performance and TOO COOL to see Bela Fleck get up there and jam with the boys. Killer opener with Dreaming Tree, and a great #41 with Bela and Tim trading licks throughout.

A great primer for Alpine Valley!! :)

Was my first DMB show and it was a good time. Bela was a nice surprise on some songs and LBV in the encore was even better. I would have given this show a 5 but the 55th and 3rd killed the mood. Overall though, a great show.

Excellent. The only detractions: opening with Dreaming Tree was a strange choice. Like the song, but still would've preferred something else. Also, Stolen Away totally killed the momentum in the latter part of the show. Still, Bela Fleck was great, and the encore finale of Thank You was fantastic. Dave put down the guitar and got the crowd to chant along for what felt like ten minutes. Plus, he sang to a girl in the audience with a sign for a brief moment.

Crash, which I've heard dozens of times, was surprisingly good tonight, and Don't Drink the Water with Bela Fleck was great. Ants Marching was also really superb, with Bela and Boyd going back and forth. I got distracted towards the end though when a guy fainted a few seats away. Dammit. Overall, really fun time.

First Off I live 10min from Alpine Valley and thought that this year I would give Toyota Park a go and Alpine. All I can say is wow what a crowd difference and atmosphere difference! I agree that it seemed like the crowd was not into it and completely drunk or too high to get anything...I mean the guy a row behind me halfway thru started throwing up and passed out.

It was a good setlist and nice to see some older songs come thru and I'm glad they opened with Dreaming Tree, I thought they might.

All in all I can't wait for Alpine Valley in August and will take an 10min drive over a 4hour construction/toll filled drive anyday.

Great setlist. Opening with Dreaming Tree. Bela Fleck was a tremendous treat playing on four songs. Disappointed witht he light show, which seemed to be a repeat of last year and disappointed with the venue, which did not have the best accoustics. Overall a very good show, because the setlist was so good.

Great tailgate and soundcheck. The weather held up (barely) but I think everyone didn't care what weather was coming especially hearing the banjo while soundchecking. The crowd was real young, but pretty much everyone around me was of age and real cool. Section A2 was the shit, all WHers and Ants, and was on fire all night! Thanks for the great vibes neighbors, it was fun! This venue is pretty small to begin with, and I was surprised on how many seats around the bowl were unoccupied. This was a great setup for Alpine (mentioned during the show) and Deer Creek. Even though I will be at Deer Creek but not be able to make the yearly trek to Alpine this year. Anyways, onto the show review/highlights:

Dreaming Tree- On point! Love Dreaming Tree, glad they brought it back, and I think it makes a great opener.

YMDT- Solid

Pantala Naga Pampa---->Rapunzel- Always a great time and I think i realized at this point that we were into a great night after the first 3 songs.

Crash Into Me- Solid
#27 - Solid
Grey Street- Solid
Money - Love the new cover. I also loved how it was mid set.
So Damn Lucky - Solid and good full band.
Gravedigger - Back to back songs that are newly full band. Great and couldnt have been in a better spot and time if they were going to play these.
Louisiana Bayou- I wish they wouldnt have played this because we have all heard it so much, but there were lots of young people there and I think this got some noobs really pumped so i know why they would play it. Could have gone for a good good time or something, but like i said before.
#41- With Bela and simply epic show that Bela showed up. It was real good. Almost "cheers to Dave chant."
Donít Drink the Water - Didnt see this coming, but real good also. Maybe even better following #41. Kept the energy up though and musically solid.
Corn Bread - Great, especially with Bela. It was almost composed around a banjo. Probably the best version i have heard.
Stolen Away On 55th & 3rd - I think everyone including the fans had to catch their breath leading up to this song. Between all the booze, ganja, and weather I think this was needed.
Everyday - Ok
Anyone Seen The Bridge -Didnt see this and was good.
Too Much- After hearing the old school sound and the version with long gaps....I definitely like the old school way better.
Ants Marching - Epic battle between Bela and Boyd. Cater was also real solid here too.

Encore:
Long Black Veil - WOW
Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)- Glad Dave went crazy and enjoyed the encore.

Special Guests:
* Bela Fleck - SOOOOOO glad Bela showed up!! Chicago treat for sure.

I also agree that they need to turn Tim down a little and give the others some more solo time. But all in all, I'm extremely glad Tim and Bela were there and think they both did great. I also think the solo times and sound will be worked out as the tour goes on. I also think they did a great job of switching things up. This was a great show.

Really good show. Probably the best single night stand show I have been to. If you cant get excited for Bela Fleck, then you wont get excited for any of DMB's music. A ton of highlights but Bela showing up to play on 4 songs is THE highlight. Even Stolen Away didnt sound half bad this time around. Did want to mention the encore. I didnt know about soundchecking LBV so that was a total surprise and Thank You was great with Dave's dancing and the crowd participation.
Note to Toyota Park, lower your ticket prices and come out with the three tiered ticket pricing system earlier!!! Back of the venue was pretty much empty.

Plus Bela as a guest and welcome back Tim, WOW! You guys were dead nuts on, this year will be anything but predictible! Night one of two on the trip from Seattle. The tailgate was pretty lame, the crowd was wasted (saw 3 people puke and 1 passed out) and yet it couldn't ruin the night. Called the Dreaming Tree opener, Bela was amazing on #41, Cornbread, DDTW, and again on Ants. I don't miss Butch that much, and would take Timmay Reynolds over him anytime. St. Louis here I come.

i debated a long time about whether to give this show a 5. because 5 is perfect. well by recent tour standards, this setlist was about as good as it gets. the return of LBV? bela on 41 DDTW and CORNBREAD! all the naysayers of cornbread need to listen to this recording. its bound to show up on the ticketmaster 2008 summer tour bonus disc. for a venue that wasnt sold out, the energy was still pretty high, especially on the floor. my only doubts about whether or not this was a 5 came from the thank you closer. but seeing as how we got an E1 LBV and the crowd was really into thank you and dave was dancing around it was a pretty good closer. in my opinion though, if you switch thank you with the ants set closer, this show was about as perfect as possible. the energy after boyd and bellas duel at the end of ants (just like LT7) was 100x higher then thank you. overall, i know this show will stay in my top 5 for ever, but for now its number 1, with busch stadium at number 2.

After seeing dave soo many times at a great venue like alpine, ive come to realize how much the whole state of illinois is horrible and how easily the people and atmosphere as a whole can ruin a good show. It was nice to see bela fleck back around as well as the cover of floyd. Alpine will be better as always. Ive never heard him say how much he loves playing at any venue in illinois but he says it everytime at alpine. After two shows here, its clear to me why.

Everyday, TM, and Ants was a great way to end the main set. The encore was very good with the Thank You cover, which really got the crowd up. Dave putting the guitar down and dancing was amazing and took the energy way up. Long Black Veil was a nice surprise as well. The crowd and energy were good, but just can't compare to venues like Deer Creek or Alpine, which is why I gave a 3.

While not every show can be an Alpine or Gorge, this was a huge improvement from last year. I see many complain about the seating in the back being empty. The reason has less to do with ticket sales and more to do with people getting down to the floor who did not actualy have floor tickets. If you notice, there was far more people on the floor than there was seats.

The show was amazing for many of the reasons people have already mentioned so I won't repeat the obvious.

The sound may not be acoustically great, but remember, this is a sports stadium, not a concert hall. I was not built for concerts, so acoustics will not be near that of perfection, like Alpine for instance.

Bela Fleck coming out on stage could be the greatest DMB experience I've ever had. I am very to thankful to have witnessed DMB with Tim Reynolds and Bela Fleck in the year of 2008. Something I would never have imagined. Great set of songs and lots of energy from the band. My only complaint is the crowd, which left the entire back section of the stadium empty. Crowd aside, an absolutely flawless performance.

You Might Die Trying, So Damn Lucky, Cornbread, and 41 were all incredible tonight. It was my first show in a while, and I was more than satisfied with how the newer tunes had evolved. The band was remarkably tight tonight, and even ol' Rashawn was consistently hitting his high notes. Timmy looked as if he had just come from Sturgis, or a WWE pay-per-view, but he was PERFECT all night. What a great fit. I missed Butch, but Bela and Tim lessened the pain. Carter and LeRoi weren't given too much spotlight tonight, which is a shame. I think Tim is siphoning a lot of their solo time which is awesome, but it also sucks. His bandana was so goofy.

Anyway, so glad it didn't rain. I had an excellent seat, but I imagine it wasn't too fun/loud at the back of the bowl. Things just seemed a bit quieter tonight. Still, audio-boner achieved, and I'm ten times more excited for Alpine.

My god. This wa sjust my 3rd DMB show, but i still know my DMB (i have over 300 shows on CD). Anyways, this was such a kick ass show. The band was into it and every song sounded refreshed. Bela Fleck just made DDTW and #41(a little short)the highlights for me. Ants w/ Bela was sick and LBV was sweet. I also love the full band SDL, and Dreaming Tree was great as well. The best show ive ever been to

I for one was more impressed with this show than any of the 6 others i have been to. Sure, there is a good chance that Bela had a lot to do with that, but I love the direction the band is going. Although the crowd really was lame and did not appreciate the treat they were receiving, it truly was that: a treat. Dave's voice was strong on Dreaming Tree and that foreshadowed how it would be for the rest of the night. Other highlights include YMDT, Money, Gravedigger, and Everyday. I was BLOWN AWAY by every song with Bela in it, especially Ants. The way he and Boyd alternated solos and the usual jam time was doubled, it was just incredible. Long Black Veil is one of the great songs every written, and the band certainly does it more than justice.Thank You was just funky and Dave's energy was superb and really allowed me to leave with a sweet taste in my mouth and totally satisfied. After a weak performance at Toyota last year, that band really stepped it up. Can't wait to get a copy and for Alpine.
