stop listening to people who tell you spac pittsburgh and alpine were better...

i was at spac n2 and pitt n2 and yes they were better, but it doesn't mean i didn't see a f-ing great show friday night! its the freaking best band in the world, and people complain about the show because they played three songs that were only good instead of phenomenal...

the bayou intro was actually real good. i have seen bayou too many times, but friday's was definitely the best...

41 was epic as usual, jimi was sick, great energy on the new songs esp. funny, wia, shake me, and even spaceman

can't believe i was so close to another shotgun!!

anyway... grow up people. just cause its not spac or alpine doesn't mean you didn't see three hours of the most talented musicians in the world performing a kickass show

i had a hell of a time (despite the awful cops)

worst of the 9 shows ive ever been to. band was either drunk or despondent. no connection with the crowd that night and it's probably not all their fault. worst #41 of all time. shouldve of just played shotgun to open and not teased it. wouldve saved the show. My buddy threw up before the show in the parking lot. We should’ve left then.

Sexy Mother-f'er jam during Jimi was solid. Also loved hearing stairway during Watchtower. New stuff was great to hear as well- looks like they're strong live already, perhaps unlike stand up stuff which needed some road-testing to develop. I would have liked a longer jam on at least one of the new songs, but I guess I'll have to be patient.

everything was sick. even though some of the songs weren't setlist worthy, they made them setlist worthy...the only reason i gave it a 4 is because of a few mishaps with the band.(stefan not plugged in for the intro of seek up, which slowed down the momentum for me, and mishaps by dave) all in all a solid ass show.

Solid show. Jimi Thing, Seek Up, and #41 were worth the money themselves, add in DDTW and Watchtower and you get a bonus. New songs sound pretty good for the most part, especially Squirm. I thought the band was really into it, lots of good Davespeak. The crowd around me was into it too. The sound was much better this year as well. DMB did not disappoint me.

Hmmmm 4th time making the jaunt up to Hershey Park (04,06,08) and unfortuantly this one did not live up to the previous gems/magic that seem to occur at the venue. A nice rain swept the area (as usual) a few hours before showtime and a little after 815 as the sun began to set...on we go...

SHOTGUN (Tease)...Why the tease? they need to play these songs, mix up the setlists a bit.

SQUIRM...nice opener, nothing special here...a bit of an ease into the night.
PROUDEST MONKEY...Very nice, evening/sunset approaching..very mellow version of monkey as people still settled into the venue.
SATELLITE..boring....heard enough satellite.
SHAKE ME...Energy finnally, a very slow start to the night, and SMLAM a much needed pick-up came through.
SEVEN..Reynolds crushes this song, excellent musicianship and Southern style funk...another great new track.
SEEK UP..Thank you DMB...havent heard a seek up since UVA 06, not the greatest of Seek-ups, but wonderful as always.
FUNNY/WHY..Great spots here, tons of energy off the new album, the band continues to nail these songs.
CRASH...standard, always great to have it thrown in the mix.
JIMI THING...The Hershey decline begins, version was way too long, Coffins solo was drawn out, coupled with Dave mumbling.
ALLIGATOR PIE...The biggest undedog on BWAGGK, this song jams...again lots of energy, dixie land Virginia New orleans power and funk...loved it...
EVERYDAY...sort of a strange spot for everyday, could have gone somewhere else.
SPACEMAN...Love it...this song is/will be big!
CORNBREAD...please shelf this one...enough of it.
BAYOU...Ahhh..they seem to love playing it, howevr it just appears way too often for me.
#41... a beautiful song Yes, about the double the time needed to listen YES....this version was drawn out and lacked substance..sort of hung around liked jimi thing.
DDTW...Always seems to appear in the setlist when it rains, a very week set-closer in my opinion, especialy after, the 30 min Bayou/41.

E:
YOU & ME...Cheese song and an awful encore choice.
WATCHTOWER... Yes the stairway version seemed to be popular with the pop-collars and frat boys, but Watchtower...ok closer to an ok show....get one last jam in here before the band semed eagerly ready to depart the stage.

To sum it up with-out the new album I'm not quite sure what direction this band would be going, they tried to throw in some popular covers on the 08 tour to mix things up, but DMB obvioulsy is no cover band..The new songs sound GREAT, tight, and pack a punch...The drawn out Bayou's, JimiThings.. sounded as tired as much of the band appeared from the recent overseas tour. The Hershey 09 show obviously had its moments and much of the off the hook southern hillbilly jammin...but lacked the consistency and creativity down the stretch that takes avg DMB shows to being memorable

To me the show gets a four...barely. Squirm was a great opener in my opinion. Seek Up was a great surprise, but I feel that the set was missing a true gem...Pig, Recently, The Stone or even Crush...something that would have made up for Everyday through Bayou (although the Bayou intro was very cool...I had no idea what song was coming...and I like Everyday, but it lacked energy from the band and crowd last night). Hearing DDTW, #41, and Seek Up for the first time was nice. SMLAM was as amazing as I expected it to be and so was Why I Am. DDTW was incredible and a great way to end the set. However, the encore was weak. You and Me to start the encore just killed the vibe after DDTW ended the set. I'm not a Watchtower fan, but with Stefan's Stairway intro and Tim's Stairway interpolation I may be converting to a fan.

Great show... I really enjoyed hearing some of my all time favorites (#41 and Seek Up) alongside the songs from the new album that I love the most. Squirm was a great opener, Seven was amazing live, and Why I Am is also great.

HOWEVER, I will say that the energy definitely lacked through Everyday (which I could live without EVER hearing again live... I swear they play it at every show I go to!) and Spaceman. I also thought that either the sound system was not good or the band sounded very sloppy on some things, especially Shake Me Like a Monkey.

This was my first show since LeRoi's passing and you could really tell the difference in energy and sound. I missed LeRoi's calming, rock solid presence a lot. Jeff Coffin does a great job but of course it will just never be the same.

And I can't believe no one has mentioned Dave's hair - it looked C-R-A-Z-Y! I was laughing at him the whole show. =)

The Shotgun tease got my heart racing for sure. Great to see that Dave hasn't forgotten this great song. Squirm was a cool opener.
Strong performance throughout. Seek Up, Jimi Thing, and Watchtower were outstanding. Stefan's Stairway Intro to Watchtower was very cool as was the Stairway interpolation within the song. This was my 77th show and my most memorable as I got
to watch the last third of the show from the side of the stage next to Joe Lawlor, a truly awesome experience for a hardcore fan!!!!!!!!!!

A great show. Boyd definitely shined, Jeff playing two saxophones at the same time was unbelievable. Squirm opener was solid. I like that they threw in Seven even though it wasn't originally planned. Jeff and Rashawn's solo battle in the beginning of Seek Up was incredible. Jimi Thing was awesome, Jeff wailed, Boyd rocked his two solos, Sexy M.F. outro was great. Everyday was good but the crowd wasn't into it (didn't sing #36 until the end when Dave started to). Liked how Spaceman has evolved with the little jams. Louisiana Bayou's intro was pretty cool. The highlight of the show was #41, Jeff wailed for quite awhile. Don't Drink the Water never disappoints. I was surprised to see You and Me in the first encore spot, but it held its own. Finally, All Along the Watchtower baffled everyone, Stefan's Stairway to Heaven intro was great and Tim's Stairway solo gave me chills.

This was our third show of the tour and easily the worst. The setlist really lacked cohesion. I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere, but I thought the sound was horrendous. Carter's snare was echoing about a second after he hit it. You could hear it from the front speakers, then you'd hear it again, delayed from the mid-speakers. It got VERY annoying. The encore seemed very rushed. Maybe I was spoiled by Pittsburgh, but this show was weak. I hope the magic returns for Camden :)

I thought this show was great. Is it the best of the summer tour? Setlist wise, probably not. But, the band was spot on tonight. It was clear Dave is tired and they're in need of a break, but it didn't affect the performance.

Bayou was surprisingly good, and 41 was incredible. Highlight of the night is definitely Seek Up. Proudest Monkey was excellent - I think better than the LT15 version. Tim soloed instead of Jeff. The segue from Spaceman into Cornbread featured a Carter solo.

All eight of the Big Whiskey songs were spot on. Squirm is a solid opener, and the Shotgun tease was cool. The fact that Shotgun wasn't played was negated by the fact that this show featured the first Squirm opener. Alligator Pie was good, I think Boyd did a good job filling in for some of the banjo parts.

Boyd was on tonight; any concern about Boyd being checked out was not supported by his performance tonight. He took center stage during his Everyday and Bayou solos.

Really good show all in all. However, in my section Carter was delayed a hair, since I could hear the stage and the PA pointed towards GA at different times. This made the intro to Seek Up almost inaudible for me. Otherwise, it was awesome. Cool new intro to LB (screw you, I like that song) #41 was off the hook. Jeff Coffin is not human.

Great show, lot's of new songs which is always a treat! #41 was killer! Carter and Jeff went off like crazy! The "Stairway" intro to Watchtower was VERY cool, but when Timmy played the solo, and they did the jam section from it, it was awesome!

Edit after listening to the tapes (thanks tapers):

Seek Up was a bit different than I've ever heard. The into was a wicked jam, and the body of the song was a tad slower than I've ever remembered hearing, very nice version!

#41 had a nice long jam, but it was segmented. It seemed like three different parts of the jam that weren't intertwined with each other. Each was wicked in it's own right, but it wasn't a cohesive unit, and seemed that it needed prodded to get started...weird, but interesting.

I don't know why people get so upset with particular songs on the set list?!?!? OK, he played Lousiana Bayou, personally I don't have a problem with this song (or Everyday/#36, as it should be listed) I thought that the intro jam to LB was great, and never had a clue where they were going with it until it started! It's not like they played "I did it" (fer krissake!) that being said, he needs to dust off Minarets, or Drive in Drive out...(just my thought)

I'm hoping that the Sexy M.F. ending to Jimi Thing doesn't jeopardize Dave's long standing relationship with Hershey. It's a weird town to live in and there are very prudish people that won't appreciate that he interpolated an old Prince tune into one of his own, and will just see it as a "vulgar statement" which it's not! But weirder things have happened here!

But I'll stick with my original assessment: Another nice Hershey show! (but I'll stand by that 2000 was one of my FAVORITE Hershey shows!)

Great start to the show with Squim thru seek up. Intro to seek up was sick, but once it got mid song, it seemed like none of them were having fun on stage at all, and it went downhill from there. Very boring other than a good Jimi and Gator Pie is getting so much better live. 41 was an epic one, a bit drawn out but it was the highlight of the show. DDTW was a decent closer. And Watchtower is always a great closer. I was against the gate in GA and the fans were fucking terrible. Not just there tho, it seemed like noone around me knew the words to anything and I swear NOONE ANYWHERE was dancing. The show was a great performance for promoting Big Whiskey, since they played a whopping 8 songs from the album. However, they didn\'t play too many songs from their older albums, Before These Crowded Streets and Crash, and played nothing from one of my favorites, Busted Stuff/LWS. The first half of the show kept me on the edge of my seat, especially the extended Seek Up jam. But after Jimi Thing, the show seemed to have lost a lot of it\'s gusto (except for the #41 jam). The jams, however, were phenomenal. Boyd, Jeff and Rashawn were at the top of their game during jams like Seek Up, Jimi Thing, and #41. Carter laid out some sweet licks, and Tim gave a nice hard-edge to their songs. Overall, it was a good show, even though they left out a LOT of good songs.

That was the sickest #41 I've heard in a long time not to mention one of the longest. The band had a great vibe and was right on cue with every song. Watchtower brought it home with a great stairway to heaven outro. Can't get enough of this band!

The band was very into the show tonight. Played a bunch of older songs, and new album stuff as well. Great versions of all songs! Beginning of Seek Up was exceptional.

Good show with many strong points. There were just too many weak points in the set that lost energy, and the flow just wasnt there. Could have used one or two fan favorites to pull it all together. Also general admission was annoying, drunk peopl wandering around, people talking over quiet section etc

great setlist, glad to see them open with squirm. Jeff was nuts with playing two saxs at the sametime and that Jimi Thing solo jam. Also how fucking long was that #41, epic....

Great show overall. Seek up was a nice addition to this set list, and the crowd was great for singing along to #36/everyday, and Why I Am. Also, Jason Mraz made for a memorable opener.

It was my first show seeing more than 3 new songs played. Overall they were good. The start of the show was pretty slow.

The crowd in Hershey is lame, and the venue isn't that great. It's the last show I'll see there.

Seek Up was fantastic and the highlight imo. Shotgun tease was exciting and Squirm works very well as an opener. DDTW is also a great switch up from the "standard" closers and it works very well. Great show, see you all at Camden!!

Mindy and I went with Ray and Debbie and met jack the balloon man before the show for a little tailgate action. Mindy was 6 months pregnant. I thought the setlist had too much new stuff but it still was a pretty decent show.

The songs were good but the setlist had no flow. It was an odd show. Also the hershey crowd sucked. The place was dead and they mumbled the words, no one knew the words and worese of all the GA was filled with 17 year old drunks.

Pretty average performances; great setlist on paper, but it seemed the band was tired/disinterested, and just wanted the night to be over. Unimaginative jams, poorly configured ideas, just an off night. Watchtower was pretty great though, I will say. Probably because they were so happy to be done xD

Then again, it was only an off night compared to the other 09 shows. Overall, it was a great show and I'm glad I was there (albeit with meh seats)

Dave was in a great mood on that night. Fantastic opening run of songs, but there was a definite lull after Jimi Thing. Highlights for me were Proudest monkey, seek up, perfect version of seven, 'gator pie, #41, and a great watchtower. Solid show.

Sloppy show from the guys. Dave botched parts of Alligator Pie and Watchtower pretty good. Bayou was the biggest let down for me.

Dave also looked like he got hit by a bus. It seemed like everyone hit the mid-summer fatigue at this show.

There were some high points, though. Seek Up was top-notch and Watchtower, despite the flubbing, was a crowd pleaser with the Stairway interpolation.

Crowd was also obnoxious; saw 2 people taken away by security and another getting dragged out by his friends. All in all, rough show to be at.

"Hershey....tastes like chocolate, smells like cowsh*t." Last night's show was a memorable one. It seemed to me that a little bit of midsummer fatigue has set in. Carter, Boyd, and Coffin were amazing as usual. I loved the new songs, however, with some of the sound difficulties(mics not working when musicians are singing and soloing) I felt that they still need a little bit of work. I LOVE squirm, but it felt empty. Same with Spaceman...definitely better with D'Earth. Jimi rocked. #41 was stellar, especially Coffin challenging Carter to a duo. Aligator Pie was great. Everyday-Cornbread seemed to have no gusto, followed by Bayou(although the piece-meal intro was cool) kind of killed the flow of the show. DDTW was bad*ss in the closer spot. Good encore. I enjoyed the show very much. The weather was great(for the show). Mraz was a great opener....let's see how he does at Merriweather tonight! Great to see the smiles back on fans' faces as we wanted to sing along with the new songs. Nissan 8/8 is next.....see y'all then!

There is nothing better than a DMB show. That being said, the show was probably the weakest I have ever seen, and definitely the weakest of the shows I've seen this tour. There were problems with sound, Rashawn's presence wasn't as strong as it has been. Boyd was def. doing his thing compared to earlier in the tour. Song choice was ok, but I agree that the flow wasn't quite there. I don't understand the spaceman/cornbread complaints. I think spaceman live is sick, and dave's energy during cornbread, in my opinion, always makes the song killer. I am impressed with Coffin's tackling #41, he was right on and Carter got pumped, which made it awesome. Anyone else notice that Dave was super distracted by something on the left side for the whole show? And that he was using a teleprompter with the Seekup lyrics during that song? Is that normal? I've never seen it before...

First off, Jason Mraz was an excellent opener, probably the best opener out of the 12 concerts I've been to (I really wish he and/or his horns would have come out to play with Dave). This was a pretty solid show--the band's energy was excellent the whole time. Solos were excellent, especially Jeff on #41. Out of all the shows I've been to involving new album music, this was my favorite (however, looking back on 2002 at Hershey, that is a great set list). I actually looked forward to hearing the new songs (unlike the LAST album that came out). I REALLY wish they would have not played Bayou, but that's my only complaint. At least the jam at the end was good. My favorites were definitely SMLAM, 7, Jimi Thing, and Watchtower/Stairway. Good setlist, good energy, great seats, and good show overall. I will definitely get tickets for Camden in September! Great crowd around me, nobody annoying!

I enjoyed this show despite the criticism it’s received. I expected it to be mostly BW songs as he just released it, and this show really got me into his new album. Energy was just ok but that is because most of the songs were new ones, so people didn’t get overly excited about hearing a favorite classic.

Gotta give this thing a 4 cause it deserves it. I told my good friend this was a meat and potatoes kind of show, a great band playing good music that they love. No one song stood out to me but I did notice that this appears to be the first time that bayou, corn bread, and alligator pie appeared at the same show and I thought that was sweet and kinda set this thing apart from any old regular show. 51 and counting for me. I have tix for scranton but the way these boys are playing they will most likely see me sooner than that.
