Front row. The opening run of songs was incredible. The 2nd half was a little more spotty. Very happy to get So Right. Can't Stop was actually very good. The encore was solid. I really like how they jam out Black Jack. Ants to close will never get old, and then I wrapped up my evening by getting a drumstick. What a great night!

The Twin City fans who do not travel to see the band were duly rewarded for the hiatus between DMB shows here. It was a great blend of old and new, and Jimi Thing was the thing! What a great number with all of the talented horns.

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the Carter/Jeff jam on #41, and the ending jam of Jimi with the Honeybears. I'd give my left nut to have a listen to last night's show all over again. It's up in my top five performances. I even enjoyed the chick playing air violin dancing by me during Jimi Thing. A special thanks to her for just having fun. Oh yeah, and to the dude who yelled at the sound booth for too many strobes or not being able to hear the vocals, this wasn't the Justin Bieber concert.

Ok....Now that i have had two days to digest and process what exactly it was i witnessed this past wednesday night here it goes....

Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears: Very solid opening act. I could get into them very easily. From where i was on the floor the arena still seemed very empty to me.

The band came onstage (still felt empty in there) altough it was getting obviously packed, felt very close and intimate. We got some great davespeak and i noticed Timmy was rockin some awesome pink shades. Then Dave began playing the opening notes of "The stone"...I couldnt believe it. I was not expecting a Stone opener... Awesome energy. Set up a great night.
Warehouse: Okay now i'm really suprised, was it just me or was there no "Whoo!" during the intro??? Either way it was insanity.
One Sweet world: Oh my god, ive been waiting for this one....After missing Alpine this year i was bummed but when the opening chords began i went wild....incredible.
Shake me like a monkey: I knew that eventually this would come along. Got the crowd really excited though...
Crush: Stefans bass intro on Crush was Sick!!! The band jammed like motherfuckers throughout this one and Rashawn really got down with it. Crowd was amped at this point. I was a bit pissed however when the lady behind me began puking all over me....
Stay or leave: Love this one. I was not expecting dave to pull this one out on this night beu it rocked!!!
So right: At this point im thinking "What the fuck is gonna happen next" and then so right comes up....my first time hearing it in person...Awesome!!!! Lighting effects were trippy for this one!
Seven: Before this song began dave said "This song goes alittle something like this..." and made some groovy dance moves. Ive heard this one before but i have to admit this song has evolved into soemthing fierce now. It was a great jam.
#41: Good call to the guy in front of me in the #41 Yankees Matthews jersey. He called this one spot on...I have to admit i was skeptical but when 41 began i almost pissed(but didnt)...It always has been one of my favorites...The band seemed to jam on forever...My guess is over 20 minutes of pure #41 bliss. One of my favorite moments of the night.
Why I am: Another BW anthem...Once again this really got the crowd going. I admit it wa a great great time. Really great energy between the band and the crowd.
Dancing Nancies: wasnt expecting this either...Awesome suprise...great intro by dave. Boyd lit the house on fire during his solo.
Crash into me: Perfect as always...Dixie Chicken interpolation always grabs me and punches me in the face with its awesomeness....Daves scream at the end!!!!
Can't stop: Before this night i kind of despised this one...No longer!!!Something about it to
night made me reconsider....the chorus is amazing!
I Did It: Saw they did this in Omaha the night before so I thought perhaps we would get it and we did....My first time hearing it live. It did not disappoint!
You & Me: Incredible....Very intimate and touching. Beautiful..Then we got....
Water Into Wine: Dave you sick bastard!!!!I could not believe what i was hearing and my ears began melting off my head. Wow and Wow! Ive heard Water Into Wine before but this was different, different lyrics. It had the very cool descending trumpet scale from rashawn which pulls it all together. I could not (and still cant) believe we got this ultra-rare jam. The highlight of the show for me!
Jimi thing: I was just speechless at this point. The Honeybears guested on this one and they all brought the house down. Dave's scat was absolute tits on Jimi.

ENCORE:
Dave came out and introdiced the next one as an old song with alot of versus but he only remembers a few....we got
Rye whiskey: Incredible! The first cover song of the night and dave picked a damn good one. Love Rye Whiskey...
Black Jack: My first time hearing Blackjack live and this song had become a monster. The intro is hauntingly good...."I would bet the moon and stars on you"....SOmething to that effect. It was great. Cant wait to hear this again in 2012!
Ants Marching: This is it....the grand finale. Carter had an awesome drum improv intro and the entire band was spot on. Boyd once again chew us up and spit us out....What a great way to end a great night and summer!

Bottom Line: Going into the year off, if I had to pick a show to hold me over, this would be it. Im still kind of speechless. I would give both my balls to see it again! See y'all in 2012!

My 11th show and definitely a top 3, up there with Bridgeview Illinois in 08 (I believe it was) wih Bela Fleck and Alpine Valley this past 4th of July. The show had basically no dull moments other than rye whiskey. The sound was great as was the lighting. The best songs of the night were nancies, jimi thing with the honeybears, 41, and crush. Great night, great seat, great summer tour.

Not a bad show, but as my buddy said, "not a Tribe show." Seemed to kind of cater to the first time DMB attendee, so you get "I Did It", "Crash Into Me", "Ants Marching", etc. Quite different from an Alpine crowd, to be sure. Still, cool to see "The Stone" as the opening and some great interplay between Jeff & Carter during "#41." "I can't feel my face!" Nice one, Dave!

this was a great set list and refreshing to not see the guys struggle in the Target center with poor acoustics. Xcel has the energy and the best sound out there. It was arguably one of the best shows i have been too, Dave and Friends still has my number one spot but this falls in my top three. The 41 Jam blew my mind.

Show was pretty good I guess, still seem to be a little confused on the backing vocals and timing on Blackjack and the energy went up and down all night. Did really enjoy Rye Whiskey. Not too bad all the way around.

My 44th show dating back to 1994. And it was excellent! Historically, (for the past 8-9 years), DMB's stops in Mpls./St. Paul have been lackluster compared with Alpine Valley (which I always attend). This performance was not a disappointment at all. Aside from a few Everyday album tracks, the entire night was an onslaught. I love this band right now!

Front row, right in front of Stefan. I got a stick and setlist from Carter, looks from all the guys, amazing pictures, and a lifetime of new memories. It was an awesome show. I wrote a full review in the forums. This was the best night of my life in many years.

Well it was great to finally see the Band play a great show here in MN. The past few have not been very memorable. The set had a great mix of new and old which sustained the energy throughout the show.

Highlights: Opening with The Stone is always solid and the gigantic horn section for Jimi Thing was incredible. Getting Warehouse, #41 and Nancies will never get old. The Davespeak in between songs, "Is that a new perfume you're wearing...". And watching Dave screw up the refrain during Nancies was pretty funny. It got smiles from all the boys. Hey, even pros make mistakes!

The only disappointment was Ants as the closer. That's more of a mid-set song in my opinion, but I'll take it. Overall, great show!

Over all a solid setlist. Felt like the energy was down from usual, perhaps cause Dave couldnt "feel his face" :) Second of the two Ive been to this year (Shoreline was insanely good) but definitely a great outing.

Highlights: The Stone, So Right, Cant Stop and Black Jack is coming along nicely.

Side Note: With the exception of Watchtower, which has made it into the consistent rotation over the years and is always an awesome track, there has been a delightful absence of covers this year. Leaves more room for deep cuts like JTR, Cant Stop, Sweet Up And Down and Granny which are always a treat to hear.

Great show overall. The version of Can't Stop played tonight was a night and day difference (in a good way) from last time I saw it played in 2006.
