The show was great... filled with great covers, funny Dave antics, amazing solos and extended sets, the first ever "Hurricane" cover, and fun crowd energy. Good performances by supporting acts OAR, Citizen Cope and Soulive to round out the day. I could only have wished for the next two days of the caravan. Very much looking forward to the postponed days!

The first half of the show was fairly disappointing. After Jimi Thing it started to pick up, but I expected more out of the band considering the cancellations. The worst part of the night, however, was trying to get off of that damn Island. They should reschedule the other shows for a different location because that was the worst experience I have ever had leaving a show. Standing in line for 1.5 hours for a ferry is ridiculous.

I thought the band was great! Learned the only way to watch the show with being a sardine in a can. And the ferrys where a joke. But the band killed it.

Good show. Guess I was hoping for a little more given the circumstances. Looking forward to going back.

VIP sucked being that nobody working there knew anything about it. The food ran out in less than an hr at dinner. there was no vip ferry line or exit, which is pretty much why I went VIP. I hope they fix this for the next 2 shows.

Too much jamming and not enough excitement. A lot of plans were made for this weekend and you would expect the band to liven up the crowd with a rare song or some real upbeat jam. Good times bad times had great energy. should have been like that the whole show. They need to stop with the 15 minute jams on lying in the hands of god. there's nothing too it.

The show was awesome! Granny and Shotgun are worth the trip. The bummer was that we knew it was a single show when we were prepared for an entire weekend. This was our only chance to see them all year and that was a huge let down. We flew in from SC with very little chance to see the last 2 shows even if they reschedule. Govenors Isle sucked!!! Who scheduled this place? It took 2 hours to get of the island. This was the worst logistically planned event that I have ever been a part of.

Looking back on this set, it was actually pretty good. I think what hurt it was the fact that the next two days were cancelled. If Dave had a full weekend to build this set off of it would have been viewed differently. A good set to start off a three day weekend, not necessarily the best on its own.

i have seen this band 40+ times and was already starting to move on to bands that are actually good at playing live music but this was the nail in the coffin. FUKING AWFUL! i am never seeing them again. they are so stale, have no energy, and dont jam at all. talk about calling it in.. dave is as sick of this sht as i am and just doesnt care anymore. this live act is a disgrace to the great music DMB has created in the past. they are done. if you got into live music from DMB but are ready for something better, skip phish and go right to the disco biscuits

I never complain but I'll say this: I wasn't too impressed by the band tonight. Don't Drink the Water was a fun opener and I expected there to be a bit more energy for the rest of the night. It was cool seeing Shotgun and Out of My Hands and obviously seeing Like A Hurricane under the circumstances was very cool. I was hoping he'd play more of the deep tracks like Pig or JTR but he stuck to songs like Stay or Leave and YMDTrying. Not to say those songs are bad but they aren't what I came to see... But again, like the other reviewer said: typical n1. n2 will be better and n3 will be through the roof good. The question is when? But yes the worst part of the whole trip was getting from the Island back home. It took longer to get home than the ammount of time DMB was on stage. THat being said I can't wait for n2 and n3.

This is a statement of the experience, not the show. Bad experience beginning to end, mostly for the sake of money. Had a 3 day ticket which should have allowed for unlimited re-entry at the expense to be burdened by wearing a wrist band. However, with this being reduced to one day that privilege was revoked and was stuck on the specific grounds. We could not even view the island...why have this event on the island then? Next the site says collapsible chairs are allowed for Atlantic City and Chicago, but then they are selling chairs here for $20?? Also, no where was I able to find there was a policy of no aerosol sun block, but at security entry I was told to leave that behind. That stuck me and my group in the shade tent for most of the day. Worst music festival experience I've every had, and I've been to Woodstock 94.

Also, I;ve been finding Tim Reynolds adds to shows, and at the same time having that extra electric guitar takes away from the band. My opinion says it takes away more than it adds.

I was a little surprised at how mellow the middle of the set was. I would have thought since the second two nights were postponed, the band would come out with an epic setlist. Started off with a great opening. First couple of songs were amazing! About midway through the concert it started to slow down. However, it was not because the band was losing energy, it was because the band played some slower, but still pretty good songs. Overall the band had some of the best energy I have ever seen and they were all having a great time which really sold me on the concert overall. Transportation to and from the concert should not affect the way people feel about the music.

I went to the 2nd night of MSG last year and it was AMAZING!!!! Best show that I have been to. This show was such a DISAPPOINTMENT! I did not like the set, I did not think that Carter had a lot of air time, and I thought that Dave was a bit off. Besides that, the venue was horrible!!! Worst of 20 shows that I have been too. Enthusiasm was limited and song selection was very poor.

Like A Hurricane was awesome. Jimi Thing was pretty good but there are better versions. All Along the Watchtower lacked emotion. Two Step was not really out of the ordinary in any way.

Atlantic City was way better. Ferry was pretty annoying as well, but hey, it was free and you could stumble back to your hotel room near Wall Street afterwards =)

I have a 3-day ticket, but still it was one show. Make it the night I'll say "sure the ferries weren't the greatest, I had to fight to get on a bus back home the next day, blah blah blah, BUT DAMN Friday night's show made all the hassle worth it." Unlucky #13 is all I have to say about this show. My 13th show and first ever in NYC sent my expectations through the roof for this show. With the pending news of the cancellations of Saturday and Sunday every Dave-head in attendance that I talked to were not expecting the typical N1 set list but that is exactly what we got. They played half of Big Whiskey again! Better to get it out of the way seemed like the Mantra of the day.

Governor's Island is hands down the worst venue I have ever been to to see a concert. I saw a fellow Ant on here complain that on the website it stated we couldn't bring chairs to the venue and then they started selling them? What is that? The other thing I couldn't stand is that originally on the website it stated that you could re-enter whenever you wanted to. That was not the case. We were all crammed into a pasture that was fenced in and even though the grounds were sprawling at best, we were not free to explore the rest of the island. There were so many other things to do and see that we were not allowed to do.

I literally felt cheated by this entire experience. Crappy, long lines, over priced deep fried crap food, and crappy over priced beer. $7 for a can of Miller Lite?

The set list started great with the typical NYC opener of DDTW but the energy was immediately sucked right out of the entire crowd with Squirm. One of my least favorite songs in the band's history. The band did not seem into this show at all. They looked like they were just going through the motions and the set list clearly reflects that. I feel like I have seen this show before. Typical, typical, typical Big Whiskey era Night 1. Nevermind the fact that people literally traveled from all corners of the country and world the band was on their Night 1 auto-pilot mode. Hearing Shotgun was my personal favorite but with the opening chord I seemed to be the only person on stage right to really appreciate hearing that song.

Please boys, bring it next time? True heart breaker was seeing Nancies on the set list and then not hearing it. Please let Night 2 and 3 be better?

Lots of hype for this show. One nighter in NYC before the most anticipated storm of the past decade+. Expectations were high and rightfully so looking at what it took most people to get out there (not ferrys, it went beyond that with the storm). The show just fell short. The connection b/w band and crowd never made it to its full potential for the night.

This show was only done in by the fact that people expected it to be epic due to the postponement of the remainder of the weekend. When you look at the set list it didn't flow quite right ... a weird spot for Jimi Thing ... but it wasn't bad. I'd say 3.75, but I'll round up to the 4 star because some people are being unrealistic by ranking it SO LOW. Hell guys, we were at a show that by almost any other band would have canceled, but the guys got up and gave it a good run. Remember that it's NIGHT ONE of Governor's Island, and I bet you'll look back differently when it's seen in the whole three day event.

Last night was my 65th show dating back since 1994. I think this might have been the most hyped up show ever. Unfortunately, I think they fell flat and honestly could have made this one of the classic shows. It seemed that the setlist dragged on. Too many mellow songs..audience was lame. They didn't jam into songs. I left expecting much more. And to top it off, I had earlier in the night said to my brother that the great thing about DMB shows is you never seen any fights...last night i saw 4 within a span of 1hr. Too many frat boys who can't handle there liquor. And the beer muscles these kids get is unbelievable.

Being show 43 for me, I guess the disappointment was twofold....

One, the whole experience was below par for A DMB event. Things that one expects normally like signage and information, and the lack of things other Caravan amenities promised (no VIP shuttle priority, no separate merchandise booth in VIP, Warehouse tent hidden in a remote corner, no maps of venue with info, etc) were absent.

Second, and this is selfish, but the setlist could have been "something special" to those of us that flew 1700 miles, booked hotels, spent 2,000 on tickets, and used our only vacation time of the year to see our favorite band. As AM staff stated, 2Step was a strong closer, and yes we got Shotgun, but when you have 1,000s of fans that know they will NOT be able to attend a reschedule, you tend to hope for something more than average, which this setlist was. Look at AC Caravan, and then look at what we got Friday....

Just feeling pretty disappointed for the first time ever.

The show just lacked energy. The time bomb intro for two step was awful (love a good two step intro).

Highlights of the show: Too Much and Granny. Not a huge fan of the song, but liked that the intro for Funny The Way It Is was different then past versions I've heard live.

The band needs to mix it up more and stop playing crowd killing songs like Lying in the Hands of God, Out of My Hands, Time bomb, a 15 min Jimi Thing etc.. Although I like those songs, they kill the energy at the shows im at.

I've seen some "epic" shows 6.21.08, 8.15.09, and 7.17.10, so I think my expectations are probably just a little high.

First 3 songs very high energy, and great to start.
Shotgun- excellent, and always a fan favorite.
YMDT - best song off stand up, and love the Scat by Dave a the end of the song.
Next 5 songs, great run through, and great preformances
Slowed it down with Out of My Hands, Lying in the Hands of God, and Crush, with great solos throughout.
Good Times, Bad Times- Great Zep cover
Blackjack - Powerful song
Granny- Always good
Funny the Way- Cool different beginning with Tim
Watchtower (Stefan intro)- Super Set Closer
~Encore~
Like a Hurricane - too cool, and appropriate
Time Bomb and Two Step- super ending songs, and Who doesnt like Two Step
Overall, great 21 song, 3 hour or so performance.

Its not that the show was terrible. Its that we all see the sets for chicago and atlantic city that I wanted to hear some different songs. Last night I honestly felt that I had been to that show before. I know we all wanted it to be epic and it doesnt have to be epic. But some of us did travel to see them and stuck it out for the one night maybe make it a little special for us. Well either way I still had fun, the ferry wait sucked but what are you gonna do we all would have went out there the next two days and done it again anyways. Its all just another story to tell.

the band just played the same songs from AC. Fans from this area obvoiusly go to both AC and NYC so the band needs to play different songs. I dont want to hear big eyed fish into bartender anymore. lets here stuff like recently and jane likes

Two shows rescheduled, hurricane coming, Stefan tweeting about rocking so hard the storm gets blown off course... sounds like the recipe for a great show. Which made this set so much more disappointing. It wasn't bad... but it wasn't great. They played it like they had two more shows coming up right after, but who knows when those will be. Still a Dave show, so impossible not to leave happy, but I had higher expectations. Always great to hear Granny though, and first Shotgun

it was average. i thought since the whole weekend was postponed and that the city was going to get hit by this massive hurricane that they would have dropped halloween or at least JTR. the whole crowd wanted it. they didnt want the shitty first night set list. granted shotgun was nice to see. Just expected more!

I had a great time! I think the expectations were far too high for the set list, but I can understand why. The pacing was a bit odd and it started very late because a spotlight platform would not go up (we nearly listened to Pink Floyds "Dark Side" in its entirety. The ferry situation after was a nightmare. As far as the show, fantastic! The band was pumped and the Neil Young cover was awesome!

Pretty solid set. Cool location but a pain to get there. Overall the mood was obviously brought down due to the pending cancellations but they still brought it for the one night.

Show as average for a N1 setlist, but I expected more, as did everyone else, since N2 & N3 were cancelled. I'd give the show a 3 rating, but the ferrys were such a cluster mess leaving the island, that the overall experience downgrades to a 2. They should have more ferries, and more boarding points to speed up the hour wait lines.

Highlight: Shotgun, Die Trying, Granny, Crush. Awesome!
Lowlight: everything else.

Solid set- nothing mind-blowing, but they rocked hard on everything they played. Shitty crowd, way too many fair-weather bros. We did not deserve anything like Last Stop. I would have felt awkward getting something so epic while standing in a half-empty crowd. I was satisfied with the performance, the process of ferrying back to Manhattan made me almost happy I wouldn't be back the following two nights though. It was exhausting.

This set list couldve been good in a way to set up the next 2 nights of the weekend but unfortunately mother nature had to ruin that

Could not have walked away from a DMB show more disappointed than I did at GI...Thanks for the stale, played out repeat of a setlist. Such a disappointment. I firmly believe in my heart that this band is done. Big Whiskey was just a last ditch effort but they have NO HEART, NO PASSION AND NO DESIRE to tour and appease the fans that have been supporting the cause. If they felt different it sure didn't relfect in the setlist. I was 7 rows back and I could see some enthusiasm but not enough. 10 years 40+ shows and thousands of miles of travel...This band is way too predictable. Never thougth I'd say this but I'm looking fwd to Phish this wknd and think it will be better than DMB :-( No more tour, not even paying for the live stream...Think I will take a year off and see if I miss this band. I'm over the DDTW openers, repeating songs, not adding new material for a 12 show summer tour...and repeat encores...come on! They treated this as if it were a free show. What a letdown Fellas. I won't even go to Red Rocks this year if they end up playing...not unless I get a free ticket.

A fine show. I think expectations may have been out of whack because fans thought they might try to cram three nights into Friday, or perhaps some of the sat/sun acts would guest - Bela, Randolph, etc. But they played a terrific set.

Least fav show ever...slow and mellow with few highlights. Maybe I'm wrong for expecting dmb to totally rip it up and play a face melting show with so many making a trip through and into the path of a tropical storm that would cancel the next 2 days. Nope..dmb played it safe all night and that was the sentiment to the 30 friends I was in VIP with. And don't even get me started on the cluster that was called trying to get off the island. Thankfully I was going to Jersey and not NYC. Only bright spot was Gov island being cancelled and moved to Randalls.

People are hating on this show i understand everyone wanted an EPIC show due to the situation as did i but it is not a peice of shit show it was a good one. Personally anytime they drop Granny in there i am happy. Also grey street was cool. SO i am going to give it a 4 not the worst show for sure but it was SOhyped up there really was nothing they could do to match expectations unless they played BOWA Halloween Ryhme and reason, THe stone, Graves, Etc

Lots of negatives here. I thought the show was overall much better than most night 1's. I know a lot of people had lofty expectations because of the cancellations but still I doubt he would have played too much or granny if this was a normal night 1. This is easy for me to say because I am local and can make the other 2 shows and also was taking the ferry back to NJ which only took 20 minutes but overall I think people need to relax. What do you expect when you see a concert on an island?

Se list was even and the band rocked. The sound was awesome and the weather was perfect. Debut of "Hurricane" by Dave was apropos of the stormy weekend. This turned out to be a free show because three nights were scheduled for the make up date! This show was on of the concerts that reaffirms why I love this band.

Ferry situation was bad but the set list and energy made me forget about all that.

pretty disappointed in this set list. if the rest of the nights were still taking place would have been fine with it but they should have put on something special for the people that made it out. They killed the energy of the show with back to back jams on "lying in the hands of god" and "crush" you gotta put some space between two 15 minute jams. the show did end nicely but predictible, nice shout out to the hurricane. And those ferries were something else

This show was not nearly as disappointing as people are making it out to be. The band showed so much energy on stage! That should have been enough alone to make people appreciate this show. Granted the set list lacked some rarity points but they played a lot of great songs that most die-hards should have been happy to hear!

There was a huge gap in the PIT in front of the stage due to muddy puddles.

My friend and I had brought a construction blanket, so we made a little icon that made the crowd a bit more contiguous, but it was a huge gap to fill.

The show itself was really great, although I could sense the crowd energy was down. This is probably because of the huge crowd gap. The staff should have put down some cardboard to fill it in. Regardless, there was plenty of dry area that people could not get to simply because of the mass of stubborn beings did not let anyone through to that front section.

I had a really amazing time though!

Everybody I talked to loved the show.

The set had no energy. It started okay but the rhythm was way off and the energy was gone quick. Jimmi thing started out amazing and then petered out with band members not in sync with each others solos. The only highlight was Good Times Bad Times, which was awesome.

The whole ferry thing was handled in the most appalling way. No organization and they made us walk miles and miles.
